Make your own Donauwelle: With this recipe you can make the popular cake perfectly

When you think of typical German cakes, the Danube Wave probably comes to mind. No wonder, because the cherry cake not only tastes incredibly good, but is also relatively easy to make. We'll show you how you can make a Danube wave yourself.

Make your own Donauwelle – creamy and juicy at the same time

Thanks to the cherry compote and the creamy vanilla pudding, the Snow White cake, as the classic is also called, is simply deliciously juicy. This is how you bake the world's best Danube wave - onetypical German cake:

Ingredients for the Snow White cake

For the floor:

  • 230 g soft butter
  • 160g sugar
  • 5 Owner
  • 1 pack of baking powder
  • 300 g Flour
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Cocoa
  • 450 g drained sour cherries

For the pudding cream:

  • 500 ml milk
  • 1 Pck Vanillepuddingpulver
  • 225 g Butter
  • 5 tbsp powdered sugar

For the chocolate icing:

  • 200 g couverture, dark
  • 2 tbsp vegetable fat

So you can now make the Danube wave yourself

Preheat the oven to 170 degrees and grease a baking tray.

How to prepare the soil:

  • Beat the butter and sugar until creamy.
  • Gradually add the eggs.
  • Mix the flour and baking powder and stir it into the other mixture.
  • Put half of the finished dough in a separate bowl and mix it with the cocoa.
  • Spread the light cake mixture on the tray.
  • Add blobs of the dark dough on top and spread them out as well.
  • Spread the cherries out and press them lightly (not too much so that they don't go through the dough).
  • Now bake the Donauwelle for 30 minutes and then let the cake with cherries cool down.

In the meantime, prepare the pudding cream for the sheet cake:

  • Prepare the vanilla pudding as usual and as described on the package using powder, milk and sugar.
  • Then let it cool covered with foil or alternatively stir at intervals to avoid a skin forming.
  • Beat butter and powdered sugar until creamy.
  • Fold the butter into the lukewarm pudding.

Finish the Donauwelle recipe with pudding:

  • Distributedie Pudding-Cremeabout the cold cake.
  • Chill it (at least 30 minutes).
  • Melt the couverture together with the vegetable fat in a water bath.
  • Spread it evenly over the Donauwelle cream and create waves with a fork.
  • Refrigerate the cake again until serving.
