A cute snowman treating himself to a bath in hot chocolate. My children love preparing and garnishing this sugary drink with me. This means the joy of the pre-Christmas season is even greater. The necessary ingredients are:

  • 3 Marshmallows
  • 2 pretzel sticks, halved and another pretzel stick
  • 1 Marzipan-Rübli
  • Chocolate stick

Preparation:

1. Use the chocolate pen to draw the face and “buttons” and attach the marzipan carrots. Using the long pretzel stick, pierce the three marshmallows through the middle to form the snowman's body. Attach the other four shorter pretzel sticks as arms and legs. Complete!

The cute snowmen are a perfect complement to othersedible decorations for Christmas. The snowmen can be packed airtight and stored in a dry place at room temperature. They should be consumed within a week.

By the way, you can also make other characters yourself from marshmallows - for example Rudolf, the reindeer or Santa Claus.

The first snowman cookies are probably my children's favorite winter cookies. I also think they are super cute and often arrange them with other edible decorations on the dining table. I would be happy to serve you with afternoon coffee or tea.

Ingredients:

  • 375 g Flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 225 g butter, softened
  • 200g sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
  • 1 tsp milk

For the decoration:

  • 12 marshmallows, halved diagonally
  • Sugar stick (orange and black)
  • 240 powdered sugar
  • 225 g butter, softened
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Marzipan carrots e.g. from dr. Oetker for the nose

Preparation:

1. Pour the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl, mix and set aside.

2. In another bowl, mix butter and sugar, beat egg until stiff and pour in milk. Mix the whole thing with vanilla sugar in a mixer until smooth. Then gradually add the flour mixture, stirring constantly. Wrap the finished dough in cling film and put it in the fridge for an hour.

3. Towards the end of the cooling time, line two baking trays with baking paper and preheat the oven to 160° Celsius. Flour the work surface and roll out the dough as thick as a finger. Cut out the cookies and place them on the baking sheets. Freeze for 10 minutes so the cookies hold their shape while baking.

4. In the meantime, prepare the icing in a large bowl. To do this, simply mix butter with powdered sugar, then add the almond extract, salt and mix the sugar mixture until smooth. Draw a face on the marshmallows and put a nose on them.

5. Bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes until they turn golden brown. Remove from the oven and then pour the icing into a piping bag and spread it over the cookies. Put the marshmallows on immediately afterwards.
