Hang up pans and keep the kitchen tidy

There is a lot to consider when planning your kitchen. But it's not just the right selection of cabinets, appliances and surface materials that plays an important role in designing a kitchen. There are numerous smaller details to consider, including how and where you should store your kitchen utensils. Pots and pans, for example, present a particular challenge due to their size. They generally need to be kept within reach for cooking, but you don't necessarily want them to be on full display. And stacking three or four pans on top of each other in a cupboard just isn't ideal, especially if you cook often. To take some of the load off your cupboards, you can hang up your pans!

The advantages and disadvantages of the storage method

The first decision that needs to be made is whether you want to display or hide your cookware. This is a personal preference. Some people like the aesthetics of hanging onespots and pans, and others prefer a clean, uncluttered look in the kitchen. If you don't cook often, it's a good idea to store your pots and pans in cupboards so they don't collect grease and dust. For everyone else, we have put together a few great ideas on how to hang the pans.

Hang up the cookware – an overview of the options

The obvious option is to mount a ceiling fixture suspended over an island or peninsula in the kitchen. Just make sure the pot rack is installed at the correct height. There should be sufficient head height, but not too high.

If there is no island in your kitchen, you can hang a rod somewhere in a corner. You can easily build the pan holder yourself using various materials from the hardware store. The floating pole(made of metal or wood) is attached to a steel chain. Steel and copper pipes are also used well here.

Hang rod for pans

If your kitchen ceiling is too low, you can hang the pans on the wall. For practical staging, arrange your pots and pans along a free wall. This way, your pots and pans are always within reach, but not necessarily the center of attention.

There is room for a lot of pans in a small space on three rods one above the other. This is a better option for a small kitchen as it takes up much less space. Just make sure that the cooking utensils do not leave any visible scratch marks when they are attached and removed. Alternatively, you can also wallpaper the back wall.

Clear near the stove

If you use your cookware every day, it's best to store it on a shelf directly above the stove. In this case, however, you should have an extractor hood that absorbs the grease from the cooking fumes so that your pots and pans stay clean.

Placing a hanging device near the stove is a practical solution. The only problem is that there probably won't be enough space for all your pans and pots.

Consider the variant in front of the window

In a small kitchen, every available centimeter is crucial. Normally you would say it's a bad idea, somethingto hang in front of a window, which blocks the view or the light. But this example convinces us of the opposite. For many, the kitchen window may be the only place to hang pans and it could also help cover up a not-so-pretty view.

As you can see in the example above, there are four metal grommets attached to the top of the window. The pans can then be hung up using S-hooks.

Another option is to install curtain rods to hang the pans. The curtain rod should be about 30 to 50 centimeters longer than the window. Just make sure you can open the window later without any problems.

Use a perforated wall to hang pans

Obtaina simple perforated board from the hardware storeand build your unique storage system for pots, pans and cooking utensils. It's a great weekend DIY project! You can also customize the size, color and hook configuration of the perforated wall. By the way, the grid wall is also a nice alternative to the perforated board.

Choose option with hanging shelf

And where to put the lids on the pans? Both pots and pans find their place on a kitchen shelf. Alternatively, you can also use a coat rack with a hat rack. Stainless steel wall shelves have a timelessly elegant design and are ideal for modern kitchens.

Under the kitchen island

Not sure whether pots and pans should be hung in plain sight but not necessarily stored in a cupboard? Here's a nice combination option - let your cookware hang under the kitchen island. This allows pots and pans to be easily accessed but remains hidden for a clean, modern look.

Ladder to lean on

Do you have an empty wall in your kitchen? Lean a ladder against it and you get a practical and beautiful vertical storage system. All you need are some large S-hooks. This would also be a great place to hang herbs to dry.

On the side of the cupboard

You don't necessarily have to look up to find a place to hang pots and pans. We love this idea of hanging skillets on the side of a cabinet. All you need is a towel holder (bar) and a few S-hooks. Just make sure the hooks can support the weight of the pans.

Spice up an empty wall

No art in your kitchen? No problem! Transform your cookware into a modern work of art by artfully arranging it on a blank wall.
