On the contrary, it is the so-called “Swurfer” that allows children to swing while standing. With this extraordinary creation, your little ones will feel like they are surfing a wave. Plus, it will make them feel a lotduring warm dayscan move. Therefore, the effect of immediate love is guaranteed. With the help of these instructions, it can be easier than ever to install a swing for children in your own garden.
Use an old skateboard
The photo tutorial that we have prepared for you is very eloquent and illustrates the sequential steps of thisgreat DIY project. The detailed explanations are therefore completely useless and we accompany the images with only a few small explanations. As logic dictates, the first step is to get the necessary equipment, which in this case consists of an old skateboard and rope.
Once you have the board, use a screwdriver adapted to remove the axles that support the wheels. If necessary, use a wheel remover to unlock the steering knuckles. You won't need these anymore, so you can throw them away.
First, remove all stickers and other items from the surface of the skateboard using sandpaper or a wire brush. You'll probably need to apply a lot of pressure if you're using an old wooden board. Then again use a piece of sandpaper for finer polishing to make the wood appear.
Paint with paint
All you need to do is paint the ex-skateboard with a type of wood paint of your choice. Let it dry thoroughly by leaving the colored base of the children's swing on a cardboard box for a while. During this period you can add drawings, stickers or other decorations of this kind.
Drill holes
Next, using the usual four holes that the axles were screwed to as benchmarks, mark with pencil or chalk where you want to drill the new holes. This is where you will let the rope pass. Finally, use the drill to make the entrance for attaching the ropes.
First, cut out two wooden dowels so that they are the same width as the skateboard board. You can also sand the two pieces of wood because they will work as handles. So yours will beChild swingingbe able to stand straight on the skateboard. Then place the wooden dowels on the board where you drilled your holes. Use the perforations as a guide and mark where you will make the remaining holes.
Attach the rope
Once you have drilled through the wooden handles, cut two long pieces of rope that should be approximately 6 meters each. Of course, the exact length depends on where you want to hang your future surfboard. To calculate more accurately, measure, for example, the distance between the lowest branch of a tree in the garden and the ground where the children's swing will float. Multiply by two and then add a bit more extra length.
Looking at the photo collage above, the next thing you can do is insert the rope into the holes. For example, start with the top from the bottom by letting the loose ends point upwards. Tie the ropes to secure the board and prevent it from moving sideways.
Then consider the good position of the wooden handles. Its height should be somewhere on your little one's shoulder so that they can use it without any problems. Again, tie the knots to the correct height, insert and tie again to secure them in place.
Complete the project
A swing for childrento do yourselfWasn't such a complex task, was it? Now your board has handles from which you can actually finish your DIY project. Hang the fascinating floating skateboard on a solid tree branch and let your child have fun surfing and swinging through the air.
