Designers around the world create numerous art objects from recycled materials. Packaging, paper, toys, stones, cables and old clothes are transformed into fascinating individual pieces. Maybe making jewelry out of Nespresso capsules sounds unthinkable to you. But you can make really great things out of coffee capsules - earrings, necklaces, bracelets, pendants, brooches and rings or fun decorations for the house. With a little patience and a few coffee capsules that may be lying around at home, all of the models in the photo series below are possible. Try it out too!
The real capsules are best because their aluminum is easy to process and the manufacturer offers a whole range of colors for the type of coffee. Limited or special editions with decorated patterns, unusual colors and shades also appear in stores. You don't need a lot of tools for crafting - pliers, a hammer, a cutting board, craft knife, jewelry wire, a glue gun and, as desired, beads, bows, ribbons, ring blanks, clasps and earrings are all you need.
First, the capsules must be cleaned of coffee and dried well. Then it's time to process the aluminum boxes, depending on the model. Just be careful not to damage the capsule. Plan in advance where and in which direction you want to fold so that the final piece of jewelry looks aesthetic and tasteful.
Folding is easy - simply press it flat and gently tap the capsule with a hammer to flatten it nicely. You can create beautiful waves with round-nose pliers. Different details are glued or painted onto the jewelry made from Nespresso capsules or decorated in other ways. See how to form a wavy ball out of the edge of a coffee capsule and be inspired by our imaginative ideas in the photo gallery.
Have fun crafting!
Here you can see how easy it is to create waves with pliers. And you can leave this waveform in the ring shape or process it further, as shown in the following gallery.
Pretty earrings are made here. Fold the corrugated Nespresso capsule in half. Then press the two ends of the inner side together. You can then use a pin to punch holes in the aluminum.
And then through this hole you put connecting rings and all the other elements for the earrings. You can also decorate the aluminum capsules with other decorative things. The red earrings above, for example, receive two small red pearls and one large white pearl.
For these pendants, the aluminum capsules are folded in the middle in the same way as for the earrings, only this time you don't necessarily have to curl the edge first. Of course you can try that too. Punch holes in the two ends and connect two of these pendant halves.
As here, you can simply roll up the aluminum capsules and then connect them to each other using connecting rings. For example, you can make bracelets, necklaces or even earrings. As you can see, the projects are extremely simple and therefore ideal for beginners when it comes to jewelry making.
