A skin cream is a mixture (emulsion) of water and oil. These two liquids are normally immiscible. An emulsifier has the binding function and ensures that they mix into a stable emulsion. The fundamental difference between a cream and a lotion is their consistency. Creams are thicker than lotions and often contain several different oils, depending on the desired effect on the skin. The percentage breakdown of the main substances looks like this: 60 to 75% water, around 20 to 30% oil, 10% emulsifier. Making your own skin cream is not difficult at all. Below we will give you a few tips on how to properly prepare creams and explain which oils are non-comedogenic. Use our basic recipes as an inspiration to experiment!
There are two types of creams (emulsions)
One thinksgenerally in creamslike a night cream, a day cream, a baby cream, a foot cream, a face cream, etc., but basically there are two types of skin creams that are independent of age, gender or skin type.
1. Water-in-oil emulsion forrichFace creams
The first type of cream binds moisture in the skin over a certain period of time and should then be rinsed off so that the skin can breathe again. This group includes, for example, protective creams, healing creams, night creams and sun protection creams.
2.Oil-in-water emulsionfor light moisturizers
The second type of creams serve as a daily moisturizer for your skin and are quickly absorbed into the epidermis. This cream allows the skin to breathe and helps it stay hydrated during the day. This cream acts as a good base under makeup, a daily after-bath moisturizer, a day cream or a cream for dry skin areas.
ChooseHerIngredients carefully selected:
Knowing the properties of different oils, butters, and other cream ingredients will help you decide what types of ingredients and in what percentages you want to incorporate them into the cream. It is important to examine properties of oils, vitamins, additives and herbs and apply the creamto suit your skin type. For a natural skin cream, you can use beeswax as an emulsifier to bind the water and oil components together. Vegans can use soy wax instead of beeswax.
Which oils?arenon-comedogenic?
If you have oily and impure skin, you should definitely avoid cosmetic products that can clog your pores. But that doesn't mean you have to give up all oils. Natural oils provide your skin with fatty acids and nutrients, and people with acne often suffer from linoleic acid deficiency. Facial oils provide moisture and even people with oily skin can benefit from them. Using oils on oily skin can help regulate sebum production.
However, you should make sure that the oils used will not clog your pores. Below is a list of facial oils thatas non-comedogenicbe classified.
Degree of comedogenicity:
0 – Will not clog pores
1 – Low
2 – Moderately Low
3 – Moderate
4 – Pretty high
5 – Hoch
To make your own non-comedogenic skin cream, you should use an oil with comedogenicity level 2 or lower.

A daily moisturizerhimselfmake/ for face and body
Part A
Water content = 70%
Jasmine tea/rose water/herbal water 60%
Aloe Vera Gel 5%
Vegetable glycerin 5%
Part B
Oil content = 20%

Preparation method
Melt beeswax and shea butter in a water bath until they liquefy completely. Then add the essential oils. Pour the mixture into a blender and let it cool. After a few minutes the consistency will become thicker. Now turn the mixer to low speed and start pouring the water slowly. The skin cream should end up looking like this:
Then the finished mixturefill into glasses. This recipe does not contain any preservatives, but if you want the skin cream to last longer than a month, you will need to add them. It would also be advisable to store the homemade cream in the refrigerator. So only prepare small quantities.
Recipe for nourishingBody cream/ Lotion
Water content = 75%
Rose water 60%
Aloesaft 5%
Vegetable glycerin 5%
Oil content = 18%
Grapeseed oil 8%
Jojoba oil 4%
Rosehip oil 3%
Sheabutter 3%
Beeswax as emulsifier = 7%
Notes: For a body cream, you should use a “lighter” oil that is quickly absorbed into the skin. The recipe therefore contains a higher proportion of water and a lower proportion of emulsifier. This creates a light, thin cream that is easy to spread and quickly absorbed.
Before making your own skin cream at home, it's best to make a checklist for yourself by asking the following questions:
1. Who will use this cream? Skin type (dry, oily or combination skin), age, gender?
2. What should be the effect of this cream? Should you use a daily moisturizer or a nourishing night cream, etc.?
3. Which facial oils are recommended?
4. What additives do you want to use – vitamins, minerals, colors, etc.?
5. Do you want to use a preservative or will you only use the cream for a short time?
6. What type of container should you use?

–Hemp oil helps against acne.Hemp oil is an amazing moisturizer for acne-prone skin because it has a comedogenicity level of 0 - meaning it won't clog your pores or cause breakouts. Hemp oil is rich in linoleic acid. It is best to store hemp oil in the refrigerator as it can quickly go rancid.
–Grapeseed oil for oily skin.It fights free radicals and helps restore collagen, which also makes it an excellent anti-aging oil.
