Braiding farmer's braids for beginners
Whether you are a beginner or not, you know that the first step is to brush your hair well. By the way, freshly washed hair is a little more difficult to style. It is therefore advisable to wash it the day before the event, but of course it is up to you. You can also work a smoothing styling product into your hair.
Expert tip for women with straight hair: If you have the hairwith a curling ironWave or curl a little (don't forget the heat protection!) before you braid the farmer's braid, this not only helps with the braiding itself (the waves make it bend better into the braid). Afterwards, there won't be as many or even any ends of the hair sticking out.
Braiding a farmer’s braid – instructions:
- Take a section of hair from the section of hair above your forehead. This should create the shape of a triangle. Now divide this strand into three equally sized strands. Try to keep them separated from each other as in the picture: the left strand in the left hand, the right in the right hand and the middle one between the thumb and middle finger of the right hand.
- To begin, you can braid the peasant braid as you would a normal braid. Place the left strand over the middle and the left over the former right, which has just become the middle. The new middle strand of hair is now between the thumb and middle finger of the left hand.
- After the first crossing, start adding a new small strand each time. So before you put the right strand back over the middle strand, pick up a little of the loose hair right next to the strand. You do this on both sides and again and again.
- As soon as you have picked up all the hair and only have a ponytail in your hand below the braid, you can continue braiding as normal without picking up any strands (logical, because there are no longer any strands left to pick up). Once you have reached the bottom, tie the braid tightly with a hair tie.
- So that the braid doesn't look so strict and also looks more voluminous, you can carefully pull it apart a little at the sides. But don't overdo it so as not to pull out short strands that then stick out. You should only loosen the French braid a little.
If you want, you can fix the finished hairstyle with hairspray and alsoHair accessories are suitableto make the French braid even more interesting - bows, ribbons and clips, for example. If you like it asymmetrical, you can braid just one side of your hair into a peasant braid. Let it flow back while leaving the rest of your hair down.
You can wrap the freely hanging part of the braid inwards to create an interesting updo and you can also quickly conjure up a bun. Or how about not French braiding the loose braid, but instead choosing the herringbone braid and creating an interesting combination? In this case, tie the braid together at the nape of your neck, then create the herringbone braid and tie this too at the end.
