Make-up is the basis of our daily make-up routine. It's supposed to make us look fresher, hide flaws and highlight our best side. But of course it has to be done correctly according to the age.

Powder vs. cream: The wrong consistency will damage your look

You usually want to avoid shine on your skin and this works particularly well with powder. But not if you already have a few wrinkles to show for it. From the age of 50 onwards, the skin is drier and no longer as elastic and it shows. No reason to point this out, but a powder does exactly that: it creates a dry layer and also settles into the wrinkles (yes, even the finest wrinkles!), which in turn causes them to become even more stand out more than before.

For this reason, creamy consistencies are the better choice. They provide the skin with moisture and make it appear more supple. They fill in wrinkles without highlighting them. They are well suitedso-called CC creams, which are really easy to apply.

If you don't like the subtle shine of creams, you can tone it down with powder, but in small quantities! But you should always keep in mind that just a little shine can improve dull skin as you age

A good alternative that is like a combination of powder and cream is mousse.

Make-up no-gos over 50 for the eyelids

When it comes to highlighting your lids, you have two products to choose from: cream eyeshadow or good old powder eyeshadow. In principle, it's the same as with foundation: powder makes the eyelid appear drier and emphasizes wrinkles, while cream eyeshadow provides shine and makes the skin appear more well-groomed. The equivalent to the mousse in the foundation here is probably the eyeshadow stick.

The use of eyeshadow depends primarily on how your eyelids have changed with age. ManyMature women complain about droopy eyelids. If this applies to you, it is important to either skip the eyeshadow or pay special attention to it. The problem here is that it settles in the fold after a short time. To prevent or at least reduce this, the primer should not be neglected.

Lip gloss or better lipstick?

Do you really want to put on make-up over 50 with gloss or lipstick? In principle it doesn't matter and is more a matter of taste. It is much more important that the product used shines. Matte tones arefor mature skinnot very flattering, while a little shine will make you shine. It doesn't have to be extremely shiny like lip gloss if that's too noticeable for you. A subtle shimmer is completely sufficient.

Some people don't like the sticky feeling on their lips that lip gloss gives. Then a long-lasting lipstick is just the right alternative. It is important that the product you choose also moisturizes your lips. Even a tinted lip balm is ideal.
