The garage door is an important element of the house facade. Not only does it serve to securely close the garage, but it should also be visually attractive and blend in with the rest of the house. An electric garage door that can be opened and closed by remote control is particularly practical. We would like to introduce you to some designs of such garage doors to inspire you. Choose between goals that create a contrast and those that are almost unnoticeable.
Electric garage door made of vertical slats
This garage door from D'Arcy Jones Architecture is made from light wooden slats that create a modern garage. An electric garage door can be made from any materials. This way you can adapt it perfectly to the style of the house.
With battery
A battery is often installed so that you can open an electric garage door in the event of a power failure. Solar systems for electric garage doors help to save energy. You have to decide what is best for you. Above you can see a three-gate variant by David Jameson Architect.
Use scrap wood
In this example by Christopher Simmonds Architects, reclaimed wood was used for more than just an electric garage door. The same panels decorate the walls of the garage and the facade of the second floor of the house. In combination with the white facade of the ground floor, a very elegant look is created for the entire house.
sliding door
An electric garage door can also be installed in the form of a sliding door. If you prefer a mechanical version, that is entirely your decision. This lovely design by Guilherme Torres features dark painted horizontal wooden boards framed by a white garage.
As part of the house
As with the variant made of reclaimed wood, this garage's material and design were adapted to the house facade. Visually, the garage door is hardly noticeable. Attractive lighting also makes it stand out. The idea comes from Feldman Architecture.
Idea made of steel
This garage door gets artistic. It consists of steel panels interrupted by a grid design, creating a pretty pattern. The patina look also represents an attractive contrast to the gray garage. The designers from Miller Design used steel.
Dark wood
The dark, vertical wooden strips adapt again to the facade of the house. The result is a modern house design that ensures living comfort right from the driveway. The gates are combined with white walls and a bright entrance. Wood was designed by BVN Architecture.
With door
If you want an electric garage door that is visually unobtrusive, then it should have the same finish and design as the rest of the ground floor of your home. Of course, this applies if your garage is located in the house. This design comes from architects Wannenmacher + Möeller GmbH.
Horizontal wooden strips
This garage door is visually demarcated. While the rest of the facade was designed in a striped look, the garage consists of an entire area of horizontal wooden boards. However, they do not differ in style and color. An electric garage door like this one from Choi Ropiha Fighera looks exotic.
Create contrasts
We find this idea very attractive, in which the effect of contrasts was used for the design. The minimalist house was designed entirely in white, while an electric garage door made of dark wood adorns the driveway area. A truly remarkable idea from Gavin Maddock Design Studio.
For double garage
Attractive lighting is also used in this design by Mark Brand Architecture to illuminate the driveway at night. An electric garage door does not have to be completely opaque. The narrow strips of glass have a decorative effect on the overall design of the gate and look extremely modern.
Gray design
If it weren't for the driveway, the garage door would hardly be noticeable. You will see an electric garage door that has a small canopy. You are welcome to extend the garage with a carport. What is also interesting here is that the garage is on the second floor of the house. In this way, Splyce's architects and designers made perfect use of the hillside location.
Gray brick and wood
The entrance and garage were designed monochrome from gray paving stones and gray clinker bricks. The garage door in a bright orange-brown color was a great choice to add an accent. The garage with electric garage door is located away from the house and was created by Sanders Pace Architecture.
Glass house with double garage
Here you can see another example made from reclaimed wood. Its color matches the rest of the house, but also the natural surroundings. The idea for a garage and house with large and many window fronts comes from Hughes Umban Howar Architects.
transparency
If you have decided on an electric garage door that is not completely opaque, you can also consider this option. It is a gate made of frosted glass through which the silhouettes of the car can be seen when the lights are on. Nonzero Architecture have also added a grid pattern of moldings to this.
Bright garage door
The color of the wood matches the brick of the garage. A pleasant driveway is created, which is characterized by an electric garage door and a design with decorative gravel. The entrance door was also chosen to match. The friendly outdoor area with front garden is thanks to the design by Michael Hsu Office of Architecture and the implementation by Texas Construction Company.
Invisible garages
The facade of the entire lower floor consists of one and the same design. This means that the gates are hidden and the garages are hardly visible. An electric garage door or any other can be decorated with indirect lighting, as was done by Daniel Marshall Architect.
Play with light and dark
You can see an electric garage door with a modern design here again. It is a combination of white gate combined with dark wooden wall paneling to create a pleasant contrast. The attractive idea comes from Residential Attitudes.
