Joshua Tree Residence was designed by London-based Whitaker Studio and was intended to serve as a vacation home for a married couple. The house sits on 90 acres on the vast California mountainside. The idea for this innovative container house crystallized to the clients when they saw a picture of a previous unrealized container office building project by Whitaker Studio. After consulting with lead designer James Whitaker, the unusual, creative and intriguing idea was transformed into a 200 square meter residence. The location of the fascinating private residence was chosen after the couple visited Joshua Tree National Park in southeastern California.
The modern and futuristic-looking house in the Californian desert landscape is initially striking due to its halo shape. The sophisticated design of the residence is very elegant and sculptural, but at the same time very functional.The contemporary holiday homewill accommodate a living room, dining area and three bedrooms. Construction of the spectacular shipping container house is scheduled to begin early next year. The rooms are characterized by elegant concrete floors and minimalist decor, which look very luxurious. The white painted luxury container house gives the overall construction a clean and airy look. The bright facade reflects the rusty orange and green nuances of the surrounding landscape and thus blends perfectly and harmoniously into the surroundings. A nearby garage with solar panels installed on the roof would provide electricity to the unique luxury residence.
