Loft style and rustic atmosphere in renovated apartment in Barcelona

Industrial look combined with natural materials creates a cozy touch and unique living style. This sums up the renovation of a loft apartment in Barcelona in a nutshell. Carried out in the FFWD Arquitectes project in 2016, creating a single 122 sqm area. Loft style meets a homely country house atmosphere and the spacious room is divided by flexible partitions made of vintage wood.

The entrance area

At the entrance, a large patio door with a plant cell structure made of Corten steel invites you to the spacious living room. It exudes a bohemian atmosphere because the seating is built into the floor and has seat cushions. The whole seating area is throughharmonious, indirect lightframed and properly staged.

Living area: mix of styles at the highest level

The entire interior is uniformwith gray concrete floorproven. In contrast, the walls impress with their rough surface. They partly consist of brittle brick and coarse stone. The unique relief is additionally emphasized by the indirect LED lighting. The ceiling is also very rustic and covered in vintage wood. The wooden and metal beams with a heavily worn character remain visible and serve as accents.

Materials and design elements

Open, spacious living spaces are the interior term for loft style. Flexible room dividers and sliding doors made of vintage wood are used to divide the different living areas. A space is cleverly left between the living room and the sleeping area so that privacy is not compromised by the room layout.

Modern loft style kitchen

Characteristic ofLoft Styleis the combination of old and new, hence the great contrast between them. This casual charm is strongest in the kitchen and creates enthusiasm. The parallel kitchen is functional and very simple, designed exclusively in gray. The cabinet fronts in the hall look combine wonderfully with the concrete design of the kitchen itself. Handles and appliances impress with elements made of brushed stainless steel look.

The cement tiles with beautiful ornaments laid between the two kitchen units and the retro refrigerator provide a pinch of coziness and vintage flair. Its glamorous ultramarine blue look contrasts with the rough clinker walls and serves as a design center in the kitchen area. Regardless of whether it is a living area or a private rough brick and natural stone, the loft style always works.

Solid furniture and accessories made of natural materials such as wood, stone, steel, leather and, to some extent, glass are particularly suitable for the loft style.
