A design house with pool in Brazil – modern architectural style creates more comfort

The original plan for this designer home, designed for a couple with two daughters, takes advantage of the slope of the property, which is located in a gated community. There is a height difference of approximately 2 meters between the front edge of the building site and the lower edge, which matches the surrounding wall of the community. Additionally, the intention was to design the project to make the Design House more accessible. This was also intended to create a lavish façade of appropriate scale on the street side of the gated community.

Untraditional construction of the residential units in the design house

One solid block on top of the other and here we have onevery interesting structure. For this reason, the design house is attractive, very modern and suitable for the pleasant climate of Brazil. The architects played with volumes and textures by designing a fresh and dynamic home for a couple.

The clients were looking for something less ordinary than the classic family home. The “La House” construction project, completed in 2014, extends over 370 square meters. To enter the design house you have to walk near the pool. Access to the double-height atrium is also possible. This connects the living spaces inside.

The floor plan for the design house is divided into three levels. The ground floor is at the same level as the main entrance and is defined by a wide plateau. This starts on the side street and extends to the rear of the property, which overhangs the garage as a deck for the leisure area.

The distribution of interior spaces

Three bedrooms and bathrooms en suite are located on the upper floor, away from the street. They are located on the wall that leads to the main entrance on the ground floor. This floor is above the kitchen area. A hanging area has been created on the upper floor, creating a space on the ground floor that combines the living rooms and the dining areas.

The garage is removed from the facade and hidden under the garden, making optimal use of the hillside location. The garage is separated from the facade by a side access ramp, as the total width of the design house is 17.5 meters.

The street-facing rec room, TV room and guest suite feature a lush garden in the space between. This one is for themnatural lightingand the ventilation of the interior spaces is of great importance.

A tiled wall, hand-painted by the homeowner, forms the backdrop to the garden area and can be seen from the relaxation area. A vertical path leads along a tower through the stairwell, which is embedded in a central column. This also supports the concrete platform and the water reservoirs on its top.

A closure made of glass and perforated sheet metal gives the vertical element the desired privacy and a certain degree of transparency. This is of great importance, especially for the final volumetric composition.

The right location

Neat and simple, the place is full of light and playfulness. As soon as you walk through the entrance, it's like traveling to an exotic island. Tall, stunning and spectacular when it comes to details, the LA Design Haus breaks the paradigm oftraditional construction. So the building has a high ceiling in the living room and a lot of contrasting colors. Practical sliding glass doors connect the inside with the outside.

Considering that this is a design house for couples, the overall architectural perspective is quite unusual. There are a few design elements that catch our attention. The free-standing kitchen island and counter made of stylish materials and the sliding window privacy screen made of classic wood complete the whole thing.
