In the middle of the hustle and bustle of the current fashion weeks, there is another change in the artistic direction of a large house: howGucciannounced on Thursday morningSabato de Sarn Das Labelalready With immediate effectLeave as a creative director. The upcoming autumn/winter show 2025/26 at the Milan fashion week at the end of February will be presented by the internal design team from Gucci.
Sabato de Sarno's chapter at Gucci was a short one
After just under two years, this news sabato de Sarnos ends time. Born in Neapolitan, the native was announced in January 2023 as creative director of the Italian fashion house. He followed, after stations at Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino, into the - not a little impressive - footsteps of Alessandro Michele. With de Sarno's start in the artistic direction, a drastic change of style had taken place, away from Michele's maximum opulence to modern minimalism.
The Sarno's use of textures and colors, which had recently become much more courageous, was particularly skillful with neon -colored complete looks, dazzling outfits and shaped patent leather. Although some critical voices remained about the artistic course of the creative director, Sabato de Sarno managed to breathe a new freshness to the aesthetics of the label in his short time, but still remain loyal to its design code.

Gucci CEO Stefano Cantino recognizes de Sarno's commitment
In the relatively tight statement that Gucci published to leave the creative director, the CEO is quoted by the brand, Stefano Cantino: “I would like to express my deep gratitude for his passion and commitment to Gucci. I very much appreciate that he has recognized the art of craftsmanship and the legacy of Gucci with so much commitment. ” And Francesca Bellettini, CEO of the parent company Kering, also comes up with it: “Thank you Sabato sincerely for his loyalty and professionalism. I am proud of the work that has been done to further strengthen the basics of Gucci. Stefano Cantino and the new artistic direction will continue to build on it and Gucci will lead to a new leadership role in fashion and sustainable growth. ” Anyone who is responsible for this growth plans in the artistic direction is previously unknown. However, the label will probably soon announce the successor in the creative directorate. The upcoming show at the Milan Fashion Week on February 25, 2025 is no longer presented by de Sarno, but by Gucci's internal design team.
They are turbulent times in the fashion industry, in which a change in the leading jobs of some houses takes place almost every week. With some posts that are still new - including for the creative directorate of Fendi, Dior Homme and Carven - as well as designers whose future career is open (including Hedi Slimane, Pierpaolo Piccioli and John Galliano), is therefore not to be expected. The decision for a creative director*nowadays is almost like a political issue, because declining sales determine the course. So it remains exciting in every respect. Also for Sabato de Sarno, whose next job station is still uncertain.
