Time for cinema! These great films are worth watching now in November 2024

In the cold season, diving into the cinema with popcorn etc. is particularly fun. Especially when the films are great! That's why here are our tips for the most beautiful hours at the cinema in November.

You should remember these 4 films for November 2024

1. The Widow Clicquot (from November 7th)

What's it about:It is the early 19th century and all of Europe is suffering under Napoleon when the young Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot loses her husband, with whom she recently moved to a winery. A terrible shock, and not just because Barbe-Nicole loved her husband very much. But also because the entire wine company is in danger of sinking. But the 20-year-old widow develops surprising courage. Against an endless amount of resistance, she turned Veuve Clicquot into a brand, ventured into new champagne production processes and, 20 years later, was one of the richest entrepreneurs in Europe....

Great because...The best stories are simply written by life, the landscape shots are fantastic and Haley Bennett is breathtaking...

2. Mariannengraben (ab 7. November)

What's it about:Paula (Luna Wedler) has just lost her little brother and with it her courage to live. Under strange circumstances she meets Helmut (Edgar Selge), who is trying to bring his ex-wife's (stolen) urn to South Tyrol. Without further ado, she decides to go along. And further to Rimini. To the beach where her brother died - to finally make peace. But a lot changes along the way and your goal is redefined.

Great because...A sad topic is treated in a tender, life-affirming way. Because we actually know: Death is part of life, but wherever it appears, great, overwhelming pain arises. “Mariannengraben” masterfully shows what can calm this pain and how unexpectedly it often happens. The icing on the cake: Luna Wedler is a stunner who should be remembered!

3. News from Lapland (from November 14th)

What's it about:It's the 1980s in Finnish Lapland and Nina (so cool: Oona Airola) is a single parent and, thanks to a stupid incident, has recently become an employee of the "Lappland News". Small catch: absolutely nothing happens in this area! But Nina sees it differently. When a rocket crashes, there is a surprising amount of military hanging around and not a word is said about it in the news, Nina begins to investigate the matter herself... In an absurdly comic investigative investigation.

Great because...Finnish Lapland in 1984 was simply brilliantly staged, the main actress is so stubborn and fearless. And because the film shows: sometimes intuition is everything!

4. Shambhala (ab 21. November)

What's it about:The story of Pema and the three brothers to whom she was married according to ancient customs takes place at almost 6,000 meters above sea level. Everything goes well until Pema gets pregnant. There is chatter and Pema sets off on an arduous journey against a breathtaking Himalayan backdrop. Especially to yourself...

Great because...Nepal has never had a film represented at a film festival, let alone at the Oscars. A big step for the mountainous country.

5. Emilia Pérez (born 28 November)

What's it about:In a large law firm in today's Mexico City, lawyer Rita (Zoë Saldaña) sees a little too often how criminals of all stripes (drug dealers, murderers, cartel bosses) get away unpunished. But she doesn't have any control. Until one day an offer comes that she can't refuse: the feared cartel boss Juan "Little Hands" Del Monte wants to end his machinations and disappear from the face of the earth. To continue living as a woman – with the name: Emilia Pérez. A risky undertaking!

Great because...The multi-award-winning production is simply unique thanks to its musical character, the incredibly strong female roles (Zoë Saldaña, Selena Gomez) and transgender star Karla Sofía Gascón as well as the fast-paced story!
