Work in the same company from apprenticeship to retirement? That was once. Today we not only change companies more often, but we also experience how our job profile is changing. The world of work is changing. This can be challenging for employees, but also an opportunity. Because anyone who learns to think and act like an entrepreneur can not only be more successful in this environment, but also happierbe. In my new book “Best Job Ever – How to realize your wishes and values at work” I show how this works.
Become happier and more successful in your professional life in 6 steps
Personal responsibility
Entrepreneurs act instead of reacting. Don't wait for someone to give you the salary, position or project you want, but take action yourself. Go to the negotiation, apply proactively and put yourself in the spotlight. This takes effort and won't always work. But if you don't even try, you'll never get the salary, position, or responsibility you want. Dare! You will be rewarded with great career opportunities and growing self-esteem.
2. Creativity and innovation
Entrepreneurs are creative and come up with innovative solutions. When you're looking for solutions to problems in your everyday work, suggest unusual approaches in addition to tried-and-tested strategies. Even if they are not yet fully developed, they are guaranteed to ensure that you stand out with originality and inspire your team to think outside the box. Studies also show that female employees who are able to bring their own ideas to work are particularly satisfied.

3. Willingness to take risks and accept mistakes
Entrepreneurs are willing to take (calculated) risks and view mistakes and failures as learning opportunities. Dare to do things you're a little afraid of more often: giving a presentation to others, contacting someone you admire, or taking on more responsibility. Get out of your comfort zone every now and then. Whenever things get uncomfortable, you grow. You learn more about yourself and the world, become more self-confident and resilient. If you balance on a rope every now and then, you will fall off. That's not bad. It is important that you keep getting on the rope.
4. Networking and collaborations
Entrepreneurs actively network with others and work with them. A strong network not only opens up a variety of career opportunities for you, but also strengthens you in your everyday working life. A stable and lively network is at your side with advice, assistance and valuable contacts. And it motivates you enormously in your work because your work is accompanied with interest and goodwill.
5. Goal orientation and strategic thinking
Entrepreneurs set clear goals and develop strategies to achieve them. Think about where you want your professional journey to go in the long term and create a plan to achieve this goal. Derive concrete next steps from this plan and continually integrate them into your everyday work. It is important not to overwhelm yourself and thereby block yourself. Take one tiny step every day. This is how you can actually start running. And you have a sense of achievement every day that motivates you to keep going.
6. Increase self-confidence
Entrepreneurs trust in their own abilities. Think about what you have already achieved in your life: you may have completed a difficult course of study, overcome a relationship crisis, overcome the loss of a loved one or raised a child. You are strong and competent! If you internalize this, you will have more confidence in yourself professionally, develop your potential and therefore become happier. And along the way, you'll also inspire others to do the same.
If you learn how to be aeBy thinking and acting like an entrepreneur, you not only open up new professional horizons, but also find greater satisfaction and happiness in your everyday working life. Be inspired and embark on a journey to a happier and more fulfilling professional life!
