London on New Year's Eve - word has probably gotten around by now that it's always something very special. And on the one hand, this is of course due to the countless opportunities that the city offers all year round, but on the other hand, it is also due to the world-famous, huge New Year's Eve fireworks display on the London Eye - one of the largest New Year's Eve fireworks displays in the world. Around 12,000 (!) fireworks explode in the London night sky from midnight onwards - a spectacle that you won't soon forget in your life.

In Denmark, it is both a tradition and a good luck charm to jump into the New Year.
Without question one of the most beautiful, relaxed and worthwhile cities in Europe is the beautifulin Denmark, and of course that doesn't change around the turn of the year. It has to be said: Many Danes celebrate together with friends in the city's many restaurants, but those who are nearby usually head to the town hall square shortly before midnight so as not to miss the twelve strikes of the bell. Then in Denmark it is traditional to jump into the New Year - that is always a beautiful sight.

A great but totally underestimated European city where you can spend a great New Year's Eve is the Spanish capital Madrid. What's so great is that the temperatures are comparatively pleasant (on average the sun shines there for four hours a day), so people there have the best conditions to party long and hard. A popular starting point is at Puerta del Sol. With a view of the clock tower, grapes are unpacked shortly before midnight, because: In Spain it is customary to stuff a total of twelve grapes into your mouth with every strike of the bell before midnight - every year a magnificent sight that always makes you laugh starts the new year. And it is said that whoever manages to keep the grapes in their mouth will experience a new year full of happiness. Of course there are also fireworks, and in the Huertas party mile you can party until daybreak.

is always a great travel destination – even in December. And not just because of the many great ones, but also thanks to the big New Year's Eve celebrations. In Vienna they have always consisted of a mixture of Austrian/Viennese tradition and style. A classic, but therefore booked up early, is a visit to the opera performanceThe batby Johann Strauss at the Vienna State Opera. Of course, numerous Viennese hotels also offer elegant gala dinners, with which you can start the new year on a grand note. The Concordia Schlössl, for example, invites you to a New Year's Eve ball in the style of the 1920s, which is certainly something special.

The eternal city is also an absolute feast for the eyes on New Year's Eve: the streets are often still decorated for winter, from midnight there is always a bang through the ancient walls and of course the Italians can also party. There is always a free concert on the Via dei Fori Imperiali in the last hours before midnight, which is well worth watching, followed by the impressive fireworks display that then lights up the Roman night sky. Afterwards it's just: party, party, party!

Reykjavik in Iceland is always a little under the radar when you think about which European city you could spend New Year's Eve in. It's not for nothing that Iceland is known as the “island of fire and ice” - so where could be more beautiful at the turn of the year?! Admittedly, it can get pretty cold there at this time of year, but not much worse than here. But in Reykjavik you always have the chance to see the Northern Lights (okay, probably not on New Year's Eve, but maybe the next day). What you should know, however: There is no central fireworks display in Reykjavik like in many other major European cities, but of course there are still colorful bangs everywhere - logical.

Of course it's always worth a trip– even if the government there is wavering even more than ours. But Notre Dame is open to the public again, and that's worth something, right? If you're not afraid of crowds, you'll gather with many others at the Arc de Triomphe at midnight and celebrate peacefully into the New Year with people from all over the world. Otherwise, the possibilities for a wonderful New Year's Eve in a city like Paris are of course unlimited. Prague is one of the most popular destinations for New Year's Eve city trips.
Spend the New Year in the golden city - there is hardly a better and more promising way to start the new year. Especially since New Year's Eve fireworks can hardly be seen better anywhere than in the midst of the magnificent, time-honored buildings and world-famous sights of the Czech capital. But be warned: The Czechs traditionally really let it rip on New Year's Eve - literally. The festivities are particularly impressive from the Vltava, on a boat trip. Such New Year's Eve cruises can be booked and always include dinner, often live music and lots of people who want to party.
