By van to Jaipur: Travel highlights in and around the “Pink City”

It was a long journey: 29,000 kilometers full of adventures, encounters and surprises. I traveled from Munich across Europe and Asia in my yellow VW van, built in 1985. The route took me through Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and finally to Jaipur, the famous “Pink City” of India.

The adventure of my life: 29,000 kilometers to Jaipur

Jaipur has an energy that is immediately noticeable: it is where magnificent palaces and Maharaja traditions meet vibrant markets and modern art. In this special mix of past and present, I sat at dinner one evening next to the young Maharaja of Jaipur - Pacho, as his circle of friends calls him. He was charming and curious about my road trip, while I was fascinated by his passion for playing polo, which inspires him around the world.
