Esquire: Fritz, you are 28 years old and managing director. Early.

Fritz Unützer: My father was always very energetic, so I would not have expected to step into his footsteps so early. Unfortunately, he got sick in 2020 and I took over the company in the third generation after a short transition period 2023.

To what extent does your current life differ before?

Unützer is a family business. I felt like I grew up in the company. What was then added by the business takeover was the responsibility, also for other people that I feel clearly.

Do you have the feeling that you missed something in life through this responsibility?

Of course, it would be great to sit on the Isar on Tuesday afternoon in sunshine with friends instead of in calls. But I also have a lot of privileges and a great opportunity, so I don't feel something like "Fear of Missing Out".

You respect your father's heritage and the brand, but your visual language is also very modern. How does this balance succeed?

Our history and values such as quality and manual work are the foundation on which the brand is located. But we are also a young team, think again and again, we simply translate the Heritage into today with our visual language in order to meet the zeitgeist in the right moments and reach our customer base across generations. Without our customer base, UNIGHER could not survive. These are the people who stand for and on the uses.

What is your vision for the future of the brand?

In the long term I would like to continue to grow. It is particularly important for us to stay authentic and personal. The great art is also to stay relevant and to have the right nose for what comes. And best to be almost a step ahead.
