How many pieces belong in a capsule wardrobe?

Of course, there is no set, correct answer here. Basically, it always depends on what your personal style is, to what extent you want to follow trends, and also what your individual budget allows.

Before you get carried away with impulse purchases - winter clothing comes at a price - you should go through your own wardrobe and think about which autumn purchases you can literally carry with you into winter. Plus: What do you still have from last year or previous years? Clothing should be a long-term investment, especially when it comes to high-quality pieces from luxury brands.

My styling tips for winter 2025

From November to February we need to protect ourselves from the elements. Sounds dramatic, but unfortunately everything is always possible, from rain to snow to cold, wet wind that blows your mind. That's why you need a durable, functional basis that also looks fashionable.

These include lined leggings and long sleeves for layering and cozy knitwear that you can wear a huge puffer jacket over. If you want it to be particularly cozy, then pieces made of fleece as well as knitted sweaters - made of wool, cashmere etc. - are just as important as a comfortable knitted dress.

Short, gloomy days in winter make us turn to darker tones and muted color palettes. I understand that very well, after all, I find myself doing it - and not just in winter. Why do so many of us tend to do this? Black, gray and dark blue are easy to wear, easy to combine and therefore require “little” styling. How do you still add some contrast to your winter wardrobe?

Red, especially stronger, dark shades such as burgundy, have been an integral part of the runway collections of recent seasons. The color looks elegant and effortlessly cool and can be combined in many ways - my personal favorite color is either gray or a dark purple. If the knitted sweater has a turtleneck or particularly long or wide sleeves, chunky statement jewelry in the form of rings or chains looks particularly good.
