Because the series creators Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter explained in their statement that they had imagined a journey over five seasons from the beginning.

This makes “You” one of the few series that has managed to come to a clean end in today’s streaming climate. Series are often canceled by Netflix beforehand - which is why some series creators no longer worry about many seasons. Like those alreadyhave explained, many screenwriters only think from one season to the next, because you can never be sure whether you will get a new season. Otherwise the same thing will happen as with the authors of, which had planned a series over three seasons and was unfortunately canceled by Netflix after the first season.

We're going back to where it all started. In the first trailer for the final season of “You”, not only is the start date announced, but our favorite killer Joe reflects on his journey in the last few seasons. Will he finally get his punishment for everything or will he get off lightly this time too? We will find out...

The first picture from the last season “You” is here!

We already know that Joe Goldberg is heading back to New York. On March 25, Netflix posted a first image of Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg on The 5th and final season of YOU is now in production.”

After Joe sported a classic serial killer beard in season 4, we now see him clean-shaven again like in the first seasons. OnInstagramThe caption also reveals that Joe is returning to his roots: “Back to where it all began,” the caption says. Of course, fans are already speculating in the comments what will happen next for Joe. Will he perhaps die in the final season? Does he get a good ending after all? Who knows.

“You”, Season 5: This is what it will be about

Caution: Spoilers for “You”, Season 4, Part 2

The end of the fourth season“You”left at least a few questions unanswered. One thing is clear: Joe Goldberg is him againof history, and his long journey to make amends for his behavior has come to an end. It turns out that Joe hasn't stopped murdering at all and has just closed off that part of himself - à la “Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde”. Nevertheless, he tries to get rid of this murderous part of himself and become the “good”Jonathan Mooreto become. However, it doesn't quite work, and in the last minutes of the fourth season it becomes clear: Joe hasn't changed.

At the end of season four, Joe Goldberg finds himself back where he started: as a murderer in New York. He now has the influential (and perhaps murderous) Kate at his side, with whom he lives in a beautiful penthouse. The fifth season will probably pick up right there and take a closer look at Joe's life in New York. So he is introduced into New York's high society as an outsider - does anyone else feel that?-Vibes? What happens if he suddenly has his old name back and resides in New York as a well-known personality? And will Kate be the love of his life or will she end up back in Joe's glass box? Season five has some loose ends that it could pull.

Someone from Joe's past returns in "You" Season 5

On June 17, 2023, Netflix held the big fan event “Tudum”, where scenes and insights from many popular series and films were published. A short clip was shown of Penn Badgley teasing that someone from Joe's past will reappear in "You" Season 5.

“I can't say who it will be yet, but we all know there are a lot of loose ends in Joe's past,” reveals Penn Badley. Meanwhile, scenes from the old episodes are shown; including Marienne(Tati Gabrielle),Dr. Nicky(John Stamos),Ellie(Jenna Ortega)– and his baby. He continues: “The question is, who are you?”

We can't find out more from the short teaser - no new images are available yet.

This is the cast of the last “You” season

ThatThere's probably no question that he'll take on the lead role again in the final season. We're not sure about all the other actors yet. It is likely thatCharlotte Ritchiewhen Kate returns.Tati Gabriellecould ascome back - although we wouldn't want that because she is happy with her daughter in Paris.Amy-Leigh Hickmancould perhaps take on a supporting role as Nadia again, since she went to prison because of Joe.

Also in the cast is Madeline Brewer, who plays Bronte: an aspiring playwright who just happens to stumble into Joe's bookstore. Whether she becomes his victim – after all, the similarity to Beck from season 1 cannot be denied.

You're pretty sure you know Madeline Brewer too - but with her, red coat and wings: She took on the tragic role of Janine in all seasons.

Also new to the cast are Anna Camp and Griffin Matthews. Anna Camp takes on a dual role, playing twin sisters Reagan and Maddie Lockwood. Both are Joe's sisters-in-law. And Griffin Matthews appears as Teddy Lockwood, Joe's brother-in-law. Will he find out about him? Still unclear!

Finally, there is also something new in the cast, which many Netflix fans from the seriesshould know. The actress will take on a guest role and already warned Joe Goldberg in her Instagram post: “Just be careful, Joe Goldberg!”

When will the final season be released?

The final season of “You” will be available on Netflix from April 24, 2025.
