Los Angeles is currently facing the worst natural disaster in California's history. Several forest fires are raging in and around Los Angeles and are devastating entire parts of the city. Over 10,000 houses and public buildings were destroyed. Thousands of families are literally faced with the ruins of their existence.
The images of charred streets with no houses left seem apocalyptic. The sheriff of Los Angeles compares the situation to an atomic bomb exploding.
Over 200,000 people had to flee to safety
Over 200,000 people are currently fleeing the flames. They had to leave their houses hastily. Only after the fire has gone are the residents allowed to return to their properties and often only find smoking ruins.
Particularly affected are the Pacific Palisades and Altadena districts, which numerous celebrities call home. In emotional posts on Instagram and Tiktok, the stars show what the fire left of their houses and how they are dealing with the situation.
Hollywood stars lose their homes in the flames
These Hollywood greats lost their homes in the Los Angeles fires. They have either been completely destroyed or are currently uninhabitable:
Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton watched her Malibu home go up in flames live on television. A real nightmare. The hotel heiress and mother of two children (Phoenix and London) writes on Instagram:
“My heart is broken beyond words. ...Sitting with my family, watching the news and watching our house burn to the ground in Malibu live on TV is something no one should ever have to experience," she wrote on Instagram Wednesday during the Palisades fire continued to rage uncontrollably.
“We built so many precious memories in this house. This is where Phoenix took its first steps and where we dreamed of building a lifetime of memories with London.”

Mandy Moore and husband Taylor Goldsmith
Actress Mandy Moore and her husband, musician Taylor Goldsmith, stand amid the ruins of what was a beautiful neighborhood just days ago. The star of the series “This is Us” writes on Instagram:
“We were able to park and walk up our street to witness all the loss. Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing. At the moment. It is not habitable but is mostly intact.
We lost Taylor and Griffin's studio with every instrument and piece of equipment they ever owned. We lost our garage and our back house. Everyone we know has lost everything. Every house on our street is gone. My in-laws. My brother and sister-in-law – 6 weeks before the birth of their first baby. Our best friends…”

Milo Ventimiglia
Mandy Moore's co-star, actor Milo Ventimiglia (also known from "Gilmore Girls") also stands in front of the rubble of what was his home a few days ago. His wife Jarah Mariano, who is currently nine months pregnant, had just set up the baby room for their child.
“I think there's kind of a shock moment where you go, 'Oh, this is real. This is really happening,' said the Gilmore Girl actor.
“We kind of accepted the loss. You start thinking about all the memories in different parts of the house and so on. And then you see the neighbors’ houses and everything around them and your heart just breaks.”

Billy Crystal and wife Janice Crystal
“Words cannot describe the extent of the destruction we are witnessing,” Billy Crystal and his wife Janice said in a joint statement to the Associated Press from their Pacific Palisades home.
“We suffer with our friends and neighbors who also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy. Janice and I have lived in our house since 1979. We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that cannot be taken away from us. We are of course heartbroken, but with the love of our children and friends we will get through this.”
Eugene Levy
"American Pie" and "Schitt's Creek" actor Eugene Levy, the volunteer mayor of Pacific Palisades, was stranded on the street as he tried to flee the community.
“The smoke over Temescal Canyon looked pretty black and intense,” Levy said. “I couldn’t see any flames, but the smoke was very dark.”
Steve Guttenberg
In an interview Tuesday, the "Police Academy" star told a KTLA reporter that he helped clear abandoned cars on Sunset Boulevard and Palisades Drive in his neighborhood to create a path for fire trucks and emergency vehicles. The actor didn't want to openly talk about how bad his house is.
“Sunset Boulevard was a parking lot. Palisades Drive was a two-mile parking lot,” he said of the evacuation. "Before you knew it...everything was on fire - both sides of Palisades Drive, and all the police were telling people to get out of their cars and walk."
“People were hysterical,” he said. “People in wheelchairs, mothers trying to find their children.”

Fire in Los Angeles not yet contained
The forest fires in the city of Los Angeles are not yet under control. The damage is currently estimated at over $150,000 billion. This makes the fires the most devastating natural disaster in California history. More houses are being destroyed every minute.
Yes, celebrities whose homes were destroyed by fire have better prospects for their futures compared to low- and middle-income people.
They have the money to rebuild their homes or start over somewhere else. But it is not just the material loss that is so difficult to cope with. The fire destroys memories that cannot be replaced with money. No matter whether celebrity or not.
