With this income you are one of the richest 10%

According to a survey of the socio-economical panel of around 16,000 households from 2017, a single that has 3,529 euros net was available as rich as theInformation service of the Institute of German Economy(IWD) reports.

As a couple who lives in a household without children, an income of 5,840 euros was considered rich. A family with two children with a net income from almost 8,200 euros was one of the rich 10 %.

These income limits have now shifted somewhat. According to theInstitute of the German EconomySingles apply from a net income of 3,700 euros per month and couples from 5550 euros net to the richest 10 %.

In order to be one upper 1 %, however, you still had to put a whole shovel on it. Because then you should have a monthly net income of 7,044 euros as a single in 2017. A couple without children was 10,567 euros and a family with two children had to reach a net income of 14,793 euros to be among the 1 % of the richest Germans.

Here, too, the income limit has shifted somewhat. Singles now apply with a net income of 7,190 euros to the richest 1 %.

Most of the citizens assume a higher income to be considered rich

Admittedly, that you are not poor with such an income is obvious. But rich? It's surprising. This is also confirmed by the IWD, because most Germans assumed in 2018 that singles were only considered rich with a monthly net income between 7,000 and 10,000.
