While you like to in the UKeats, in the USA the chicken pot pie is a popular dish. It is a kind of chicken fricassee casserole with crispy dough lid. The combination of creamy-defigerent filling and crispy dough demands a large look.
Recipe for a hearty chicken pot pie
We are very enthusiastic about the hearty pie, especially because it is so great for remaining recycling. You can use frozen vegetables in it or use remains from the previous day. Just try what tastes best to you.
Ingredients for 4 portions:
- 2 packs of fresh puff pastry
- 75 g Butter
- 1 small onion
- 50 g Mehl
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 Prise Pfeffer
- 400 ml of chicken broth
- 120 ml milk
- 350 g chicken breast fillet
- 350 g mixed vegetables (e.g. TK-imperial vegetables, thawed)
- 1 egg yolk
This is how the preparation succeeds:
1. If you already have cooked chicken from the lecture or use a roast chicken from the grill stand, this step is no longer necessary for you. Otherwise, first fry your chicken breast fillets in a pan until they are well browned. Season them on both sides with salt and pepper. Then place it on a baking sheet lined with baking paper or in a baking dish and let it get through the upper/bottom heat for about 15 minutes in the oven at 200 degrees. Then grab the meat apart with two forks.
2. Heat the oven on220 degrees top/bottom heatbefore. Get the two fresh puff pastry out of the fridge. Put a baking dish with one of the doughs (Buy here at Amazon*) of approx. 22 × 13 cm. We recommend using a form made of glass so that you can check from below whether the floor is through.
3. Peel the onion and dice finely. Prepare the vegetables as desired: thaw the TK vegetables, wash fresh vegetables and cut them into small pieces, pour vegetables out of the can.
4. Melt the butter in a large pan, then fry the onion in it for about 2 minutes until it is glassy. Sprinkle the flour over it and stir, season with salt and pepper. Now slowly stir in the chicken broth and milk. Bring to the boil and simmer over a low heat until the sauce thickens.
5. Then stir in the chicken meat and the vegetables into the sauce, let it pull through briefly, then fill with a spoon into the oven shape lined with puff pastry. Cover the whole thing with the second puff pastry and close the edges on the sides.
6. Cut several slots into the puff pastry with a sharp knife at the top. Brush the dough with an egg yolk, then for approx.20-30 minutesPut in the oven. After 20 minutes, check the floor to see if the dough is cooked. If it becomes brown too fast at the top, cover the shape for the last 10 minutes with aluminum foil.
7. Get the finished chicken pot pie out of the oven and let it rest for about 5 minutes before cutting it off and served. Bon appetit!
