After a long day, dinner should be made as quickly and easily as possible. You can quickly grab a ready-made bag. A classic pasta and ham gratin can also be easily prepared without it.
A creamy cream sauce with noodles, spicy ham cubes and the whole thing crispy with cheese gratin... sounds heavenly and makes young and old happy at the table. We'll tell you the recipe for the popular family meal.
Fixed pasta and ham gratin without ready-made bags
The list of ingredients looks pretty long for a super quick pasta bake, doesn't it? Don't worry, it's very misleading, because most of them are spices and a few ingredients to make the sauce really tasty. All you have to do is simply throw everything together, stir it and you're done! This takes a minute longer than simply tearing open a bag - but it's worth it for the taste, I promise.
Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 400g pasta
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 200 g cooked ham
- 100 g bacon, diced
- 150 ml milk
- 200 ml whipped cream
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 tsp vegetable broth, powder
- Salt and pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika powder
- 1 pinch of sugar
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp processed cheese
- 200g grated cheese
- 2 EL Kill
- some fresh chives
This is how it is prepared:
1. Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente - to do this, drain it about 3 minutes earlier than indicated on the package. In the meantime, peel and dice the onion and chop the garlic finely. Also cut the cooked ham into pieces. Separate the eggs and wash the chives and cut them into small rings.
2. Open the oven180 degrees top/bottom heatpreheat. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion and bacon cubes in it. When the onion is translucent, add the garlic and diced ham and fry for a few minutes.
3. Drain the pasta and put it in a baking dish. Add the ham and onion mixture and the chives on top and mix with the noodles with a spoon.
4. In a tall container, combine the egg yolks, cream, milk, vegetable stock, sugar, salt, pepper, paprika powder, tomato paste and processed cheese with a hand blender (buy here on Amazon*) mix into a sauce. Then pour over the pasta and sprinkle with cheese. For approx.20-25 minutesBake in the oven until the cheese is golden brown.
Tipp:Change the gratin a little by mixing peas or other vegetables into the pasta.

Pasta and ham gratin with a twist
Do you love the classic pasta casserole with ham, but are you looking for a change? Then try these variants too:
Mediterranean twist with olives and feta:Give the gratin a Mediterranean touch by adding black olives and diced feta cheese. Core the olives in advance and cut them into slices, then fold them into the pasta. Simply replace the grated cheese with crumbled feta.
Fiery version with chorizo and peppers:For a spicier version, replace the cooked ham with spicy chorizo sausage and add pieces of red and green pepper. Really tasty and something different!
