In the video in advance: This is how gratins and casseroles become irresistible

In winter, nothing beats hearty soul warmers from the oven. Like our ham pasta gratin with curd, for example.

Does this situation sound familiar? It's late afternoon, your stomach is slowly rumbling and the well-known question comes up: "What should we cook tonight?"

Finding the motivation to stand in the kitchen for a long time after work is often quite difficult. So that my wife and I are not tempted to order something every evening, we now always plan our week in advance and do a lot of things on the weekend.

Nevertheless, it sometimes happens that on a day when chicken and broccoli is actually on the agenda, we suddenly don't feel like it. So a quick alternative is needed, ideally with ingredients that you usually have in the (refrigerator) cupboard anyway.

Also delicious:

This ham pasta casserole with quark is perfect for just such a case. It is prepared quickly and then disappears into the oven, where it is baked with a heavenly cheese crust. It can also be easily modified: Instead of peas, you can use other vegetables that gradually have to go.

Recipe for pasta and ham gratin with quark

Ingredients for approx. 4 servings:

  • 400 g Bandnudeln
  • 200 g cooked ham
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 THE BUTTER
  • 250 g Quark (20 % Fett)
  • 100 ml Sahne
  • 2 eggs (size M)
  • 100 g frozen peas
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp marjoram, dried
  • 200 g grated cheese (e.g. Emmental)

Preparation:

1. Cook the ribbon noodles al dente according to the package instructions. To do this, drain it about 1 minute earlier than indicated and place it in a baking dish.

2. In the meantime, cut the cooked ham into pieces. Peel the onion and garlic and dice or chop finely.

3. Melt the butter in a pan, then fry the onion until translucent. Add the ham, peas and garlic and fry briefly.

4. Whisk together the quark, cream and eggs, then season generously with salt, pepper, nutmeg and marjoram. Add the onion and ham mixture, mix and pour over the noodles. Mix thoroughly and sprinkle with cheese.

5. Bake the casserole in a preheated oven at 200 degrees top/bottom heat for about 30 minutes until a golden brown cheese crust is formed.
