Forget Pfeffi or Flimm! These 7 recipes for delicious party shots are real eye-catchers and will spice up any celebration.

It doesn't take much for a short one. Even a shot glass with pure vodka, tequila or sambuca can pass as a shooter. But several spirits can also end up in the 2-4cl glasses. Many party shots can easily compete with cocktails or long drinks.

If you want to make it easy for yourself, take your favorite cocktail recipe, mix everything together on a large scale and then bottle the mixture on a small scale. However, that's a bit of a cheat, because party shots are more than just a simple cocktail in miniature format.

Properly prepared, homemade shots are an experience. The glasses are so small that the drinks fit into your mouth in one sip. The aroma can then collect here and combine into a round whole.

Many party shots are true works of art. Also visually. Layered shots in all the colors of the rainbow are even more beautiful than monochromatic, colorful shooters. With a dollop of cream on top, the short one even turns into a liquid one.

We would like to introduce you to our favorite party shot recipes here. In addition to the obligatory jelly shot made from alcoholic jelly, there are also many ideas for layered shots that are guaranteed to impress your guests.

How are different layers created in the shot?

If baking is chemistry, building shots is physics. Because the layering of liquids is primarily based on the good old density theory from physics lessons.

Don't worry, we don't ask for any formulas. For layered party shots, just remember that high-density liquids go into the glass first as they are the heaviest and sink to the bottom, while light, low-density liquids float on top.

The correct order when layering

Bottom layer:Thick liqueurs or fruit juices with a lot of sugar have the highest density of shot ingredients. They are the heaviest and are therefore the first to end up in the drink.

Middle layer:Then alcoholic spirits follow. The less sugar and the more alcohol they contain, the lighter they are. Vodka and tequila, for example, don't sink as much as sweet Blue Curacao.

Upper layer:Fat floats at the top because it has a lower density than water and alcohol. Cream and fluffy milk creams form the crowning glory in the glass.

Important:Temperature affects the density of spirits. Cold liquids are generally heavier than warm liquids. Layering works best when all ingredients are at room temperature.

Layered Shot: Tips for layering liquids

Take a teaspoon and turn it over so that the curve is facing upwards. You can lean the tip of the spoon against the edge of the glass - at the right height so that the different colored liquids do not leave drops or splashes on the glass.

The spoon trick slows down the speed of the liquid when filling. The individual spirits “slide” carefully into the glass and can be layered on top of each other without mixing.

It is also important that you clean the spoon after each shift. Use a shot glass that is as slim and straight as possible and avoid ice cubes. Let everything stand for a moment when the layers should mix. A little peace and the power of physics should solve the problem on its own.

1. Party shot: recipe for “apple cake”

The apple pie shot is something for those with a sweet tooth because, despite having fewer ingredients, it tastes like liquid apple pie - no lie. The dangerous thing about it: You can hardly taste the alcohol, so you are tempted to drink more shots.

Tipp:Instead of party shots, you can also adapt the recipe for large cocktails. The drink is great for a party in a punch bowl with crushed ice.

You need these ingredients:
For 1 shot

  • 20 ml Büffelgras Vodka (from B. Grasovka)
  • 20 ml apple juice
  • Spray cream
  • Cinnamon

Tipp:

To ensure that the party shot really tastes like liquid apple pie, it's important to choose the right vodka. The pickled buffalo grass is the deciding factor here.

Here's how:
Pour the vodka and apple juice into the shot glass one after the other. The order is secondary here. Then garnish the shot with a cream topping and dust it with a little cinnamon. Complete!

2. Party shot: recipe for “mini beer”

Don't let the name and the look confuse you. This party shot looks like a tiny beer, but tastes completely different. So not a bit bitter, but vanilla-sweet. This means the element of surprise when you try it is even greater.

3. Party shot: recipe for “Mexican”

The Mexican is like the little brother of the Bloody Mary. But true to the motto “Small but powerful”, the short one contains even more spice and bang than the large tomato cocktail. If you make Mexican food yourself, you can of course adjust the level of spiciness to suit your taste.

Tipp:If you don't feel like mixing it yourself, you can also use ready-mixed Mexican from the bottle. For example MexiLove, Lioko or Mexikölner.

You need these ingredients:
For 1 shot

  • 20 ml Tomato juice
  • 10 ml Barley
  • 10 ml Spicy Sangrita(here on Amazon)*
  • Squeeze of lime juice
  • Tabasco
  • Salt and pepper

Here's how:

Mix tomato juice, grain and sangrita. Season to taste with lime juice, Tabasco, salt and pepper. You can then garnish the Mexican with freshly ground black pepper.

Tipp:Instead of grain, you can also make the party shot with tequila or vodka. If you decide to use tequila as your alcohol base, a salt rim on the shot glass is a good idea. To do this, moisten the edge with lime juice beforehand and then turn it over in a bowl with salt.

4. Party Shot: Recipe for “Mad Dog”

If you like it spicy but aren't too keen on tomatoes, you should definitely try the Mad Dog. I got to know and love the shooter during a vacation in Poland.

The Poles not only like to sweeten their beer with grenadine, but also their schnapps. In combination with the Tabasco, an exciting contrast of sweet and spicy is created - a mixture that tastes particularly good when you “extract” it instead of sipping the individual layers one after the other.

You need these ingredients:
For 1 shot

  • 30 ml Vodka
  • 10 ml Grenadine-Syrup
  • 4-5 drops of Tabasco

Here's how:

First, pour the grenadine into the shot glass. This is followed by the Tabasco. Finally, let the vodka slowly slide over the curve of a spoon into the glass. The light vodka layer stands out clearly from the red grenadine and the nebulous Tabasco cloud.

Tipp:If you like it sweeter, simply increase the amount of grenadine.

5. Party Shot: Recipe for “Fallen Froggie”

The Fallen Froggie may not look quite as appetizing, but it's made with just delicious ingredients that should appeal to anyone who doesn't like spicy alcohol.

Layering the shot is fundamental here. To get the milky middle, let the grenadine drip through the top layer of cream at the end. The syrup is so heavy that it beats through the cream and drags it to the floor in visible strands.

You need these ingredients:
For 1 shot

  • 30 ml Melonenliquer
  • 10 ml Irish Cream (Baileys)
  • Grenadine

Here's how:

Fill the glass two-thirds full with the melon liqueur. Next, place the creamy coffee liqueur over the back of the spoon as a second layer. Now all you have to do is let a few drops of grenadine fall through the Irish cream from above. Wait briefly until the traces are decoratively distributed and serve.

6. Party shot: recipe for “B52”

The B52 is the prime example of a layered shot. The party shot owes its name to the American long-range bomber Boing B-52. Just like the plane that is said to have dropped firebombs, the top layer of alcohol in the B52 is usually flambéed.

The taste of the shot is reminiscent of caramel with a slight orange note in the finish. At least that's the case with the classic recipe with orange liqueur. However, the B52 is often offered with rum instead of orange liqueur.

You need these ingredients:
For 1 shot

  • 10 ml coffee liqueur (Kahlua)
  • 10 ml Irish Cream (Baileys)
  • 10 ml orange liqueur (Grand Marnier)

Here's how:

First pour the dark coffee liqueur into the shot glass. Then pour the Irish cream over it using a teaspoon. Finally, use a fresh spoon to lift the orange liqueur onto the cream layer. The B52 is typically drunk through a straw.

If you like, you can light the top layer before serving. The blue flame creates a spectacular contrast to the three layers of the shot. Before you drink, you should definitely put out the flame.

Tipp:If you want to light the drink, the glass must be fireproof. Plastic liquor cups are therefore out of the question here.

7. Party Shot: Recipe for “Jelly Shots”

Personally, I'm not a fan of jelly shots because I can't stand the wobbly feeling in my mouth. But because so many people love the jelly consistency, I don't want to withhold the recipe for homemade jelly shots from you.

If you don't want to work with gelatine, it's best to use ready-made jelly packets. They are not only available with woodruff flavor, but also in other varieties such as raspberry, cherry or lemon.

Tipp:For colorful rainbow jelly shots, you can layer several different jelly powders in glasses one after the other. However, this takes time, as each layer needs a few hours in the freezer to solidify before the next layer can follow. However, the individual layers do not have to be completely rigid. Liquid edges create great color transitions.

You need these ingredients:

Here's how:

Mix the jelly with the sugar in a saucepan. Add the vodka and heat briefly on the stove. Caution: As inThe mixture must not boil, otherwise the alcohol will evaporate.

When the powder has dissolved and thickened slightly, pour the liquid evenly into small shot glasses. It's best to put the whole thing in the fridge overnight so that the jelly gets really firm.

Tipp:To make it easier to remove the jelly shots from the glass or cup, stick a toothpick in the middle of each glass before chilling.

Instead of shot glasses, you can also use hollowed-out oranges, lemons or limes as containers. After freezing, the halved citrus fruits with jelly shots can easily be divided into several portions with a knife.
