Craving something sweet? These quick quark balls from the air fryer are a hit. The recipe is here.
Yes, you can not only prepare savory dishes in your hot air fryer, but also sweets! A recipe that has piqued my curiosity for weeks is quark balls from the air fryer (Here you can get my favorite model from Tefal, on Amazon*).
I love quark balls from the bakery: airy, juicy and rolled in sugar, I quickly eat them up. So can the little morsels even taste good if they haven't been fried in fat? As I have now discovered: Yes!
Of course, you can't compare the quark balls from the hot air fryer one-to-one with those that were fried in hot oil. They differ a little bit, after all, fat is a flavor carrier. However, if you want to enjoy the sweet treat with a little less calories, this recipe is a great alternative.
Recipe for quark balls from the hot air fryer
Ingredients for approx. 10 quark balls:
- 250 g Flour
- 250 g low-fat quark
- 2 packs of vanilla sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 eggs (size M)
- 1 pinch of salt
To roll around
- 40g melted butter
- Zucker
- Cinnamon (optional)
Preparation:
1. In a bowl, mix the quark, eggs, vanilla sugar and salt well with a hand mixer or whisk. Add flour and baking powder and mix to form a smooth dough.
2. Using an ice cream scoop, take a small portion of the dough and form into balls with moistened hands.
3. Place the quark balls either in silicone muffin cups (like this one from Amazon*) or line the basket of the air fryer with baking paper and place the balls in the insert with enough space between them.
4. Now bake at 180 °C for 12 minutes. After 6 minutes, carefully turn once.
5. Then brush the finished quark balls with a little melted butter and roll them in plenty of (cinnamon and) sugar.
