Tastier than lasagna: Strasbourg casserole with minced meat and red wine

Would you like a spicy pasta dish from the oven? Strasbourg casserole is the French answer to Italian lasagne - and prepared much more quickly! The recipe is here.

When I think of delicious pasta dishes, my thoughts go straight to the country of pasta: Italy. An absolute favorite Italian dish of mine is the classic lasagna. But the casserole with the pasta plates has one disadvantage: it is quite time-consuming.

The Strasbourg version of the minced meat pasta casserole is much quicker and simpler. The recipe is really simple, but thanks to a pinch of cayenne and a lot of red wine, the hearty casserole gets that certain extra something.

Also delicious:

While most pasta casseroles are made with fusilli or penne, a Strasbourg casserole uses tagliatelle instead. Due to their wide surface, they are even reminiscent of small lasagna plates, which is where the casserole gets its comparison to its Italian counterpart.

Quick recipe for a pasta casserole with minced meat

The special thing about the Strasbourg casserole is the generous use of red wine, which gives the pasta dish its French character. If you don't drink alcohol, you can of course replace the red wine with vegetable broth and pureed tomatoes.
