In the video in advance: This is how gratins and casseroles become irresistible

This overnight pasta bake is a real lifesaver for stressful days. Prepare it in the evening, cover it, put it in the fridge - and just quickly pop it in the oven the next day.

Do you know that? Some days you like to take the time to stand in the kitchen a little longer. But after a long, stressful day, you just want to get something warm on the table quickly - without much effort. This overnight pasta bake is perfect for just that!

Everything is prepared the day before (for example on Sunday to make the start of the week easier) so that the pasta can soak in an aromatic sauce overnight. The next day all you have to do is put the baking dish in the oven.

Quick recipe for an “overnight” ham pasta casserole

Ingredients for approx. 2 people:

  • 250 g uncooked pasta (e.g. penne or fusilli)
  • 150g ham
  • 150 g grated cheese (e.g. Gouda, Emmental or mozzarella)
  • 1 Paprika
  • 150 g Mushrooms
  • 600 ml Sahne
  • 1 No
  • 1 tsp paprika powder (sweet)
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tsp granulated vegetable broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp butter for greasing the mold

Preparation the day before:

1. Grease a large baking dish with butter. Distribute the uncooked noodles evenly in the dish.

2. Clean the peppers and mushrooms, then cut them into small cubes or slices. Dice the ham too. Mix everything with the noodles in the mold.

Tipp:Instead of ham, you can also use tuna or purely vegetarian ingredients such as zucchini or spinach.

3. Whisk together the cream, milk, mustard and eggs. Season the mixture with paprika, oregano, stock, salt and pepper.

4. Pour the sauce evenly over the pasta and ingredients in the baking dish. Make sure the pasta is completely covered.

5. Cover the dish with cling film or a lid and place it in the fridge overnight.

The next day:

1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (top/bottom heat). Take the dish out of the fridge, remove the cover and bake the casserole for about 30 minutes.

2. Take out the casserole, sprinkle it with plenty of cheese and put it in the oven for another 10 minutes to bake.

Cheese crust deluxe:Mix some breadcrumbs into the cheese for the crust if you like it extra crunchy.
