Table of contents

Wraps are super practical when you have no idea what to cook: simply spread with a dip of your choice, fill with ingredients, wrap and you're done!

This means that the delicious wraps are not only ideal for dinner or lunch, but are also perfect to take with you on the go, to the office or on a trip.

No matter whether you are new to the wrap game or whether you have already made wraps several times: Here are brilliantly delicious recipe ideas for wrap fillings from it-has-to-be-quick to unusual to vegan. There is guaranteed to be something for every taste.

Make your own wraps: quick basic recipe

The most important ingredient for your wraps are of course the thin tortillas, which are rolled up to create a delicious wrap. You can get tortilla wraps ready-made in the supermarket, but if you make them yourself, they simply taste better. In addition, the dough flatbreads are really quick to make and you only need a few ingredients:

For about 8 tortilla wraps you need:

  • 380 g Flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 50 ml olive oil
  • 250 ml warm water

And it's so easy to prepare:

1. Mix flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl. Gradually add olive oil and warm water, stir with a wooden spoon, then knead with your hands on a floured work surface until a smooth dough forms. Let this rest for 15 minutes.

2. Divide the dough into 8 pieces, roll into balls and press them flat with your hands. Then roll out thinly with a floured rolling pin and fry in a pan without adding fat for about 30-60 seconds each. Cover the finished tortillas with a clean kitchen towel to prevent them from drying out.

Classic wrap filling: avocado chicken wrap

A classic wrap recipe that you've probably already discovered at the bakery or in cafés: wraps filled with chicken and avocado. I am also a big fan of this filling because it is so refreshing, uncomplicated and healthy.

This is what you need:
For 4 wraps

  • 4 Tortillas
  • 400 g chicken breast
  • some soy sauce
  • 1 Avocado
  • some lemon juice
  • Eisbergsalat
  • 1 handful of cherry tomatoes
  • 4 tbsp sour cream
  • Caesar Dressing
  • Parmesan, grated
  • Salt and pepper for seasoning

And this is how it works:

1. Cut the chicken into small pieces and briefly soak them in soy sauce. Heat a pan with a little oil and fry the chicken pieces in it.

2. In the meantime, halve the avocado, remove the seeds and use a spoon to place the flesh in a bowl. Mash roughly with a fork and season with salt, pepper and lemon juice. Then wash and chop the iceberg lettuce and tomatoes

3. Spread each wrap with a spoonful of sour cream. Top with lettuce, chicken and tomatoes, top with Caesar dressing and finally sprinkle with Parmesan. Roll up the wrap and enjoy!

Fiery hot wrap recipe: Mexican wrap

Do you like it spicy and are you also a big fan of Mexican cuisine? Then be sure to try the wraps with a filling à la chili con carne. The nachos provide an extra crunch in the wrap and the fresh salad is a great contrast to the fiery mince.

This is what you need:
For 4 wraps

  • 4 Tortillas
  • 1 onion
  • 250 g minced meat
  • 1/2 can kidney beans
  • 1/2 Dose Corn
  • 4 tbsp sour cream
  • Iceberg lettuce or rice
  • 1 handful of tomatoes
  • 1 handful of nachos
  • TabascoorSweet chili sauce

And this is how it works:
1. Heat a pan with a little oil. Peel the onion, chop it finely and add it to the pan. Add mince and fry until crumbly. Season with salt and pepper. Then wash the kidney beans and add them to the pan along with the corn. Let everything fry briefly. Season with Tabasco (careful, very spicy!).

2. Spread each wrap with a spoonful of sour cream. Cut the lettuce and tomatoes and place them on the wrap.

Tipp:You can also use rice instead of salad. This makes the wrap even heartier and also goes perfectly with the rest of the filling.

3. Then spread the minced meat on the wraps. Finally, crumble the nachos with your hands and top with the filling. Roll up the wrap and enjoy.

Extra tip:For a real quesadilla feeling, the only thing missing from this wrap is the cheese. Place the wrap on an electric grill (here at Amazon*) or in the pan and wait until the cheese has melted.

Savory meets sweet: Hawaiian wrap filling

Some hate it, others love it: anything that has to do with pineapple and ham divides opinion. I personally love Hawaiian pizza and baguettes and therefore really wanted to try Hawaiian wraps!

This is what you need:
For 4 wraps

  • 4 whole wheat tortillas
  • Eisbergsalat
  • 4 tbsp cream cheese
  • 1/2 Dose Pineapples
  • 6-8 slices of cooked ham
  • Parmesan

And this is how it works:

Spread each wrap with a tablespoon of cream cheese. Wash the lettuce, cut it into small pieces and distribute it on the wraps. Drain the pineapple and cut it into small pieces. Also cut the cooked ham into small pieces and distribute them evenly over the salad. Then sprinkle with Parmesan – and voilà, your Hawaiian wrap is ready. So easy and so delicious!

As a dessert: Sweet wrap filling with banana and honey

Wraps are also ideal as a dessert. The classic are wraps with Nutella and banana. When you heat the wraps afterwards, the chocolate melts and the dough becomes nice and soft - simply divine! A slightly more unusual idea is wraps with bananas, nuts and honey. Here comes the simple recipe.

This is what you need:
For 4 wraps

  • 4 Tortillas
  • 4 EL Quark
  • Honig
  • 100 g hazelnuts, chopped
  • 4 bananas

And this is how it works:

1. Heat flour tortillas in the microwave. Spread each with a tablespoon of quark, alternatively yoghurt works.

2. Spread honey generously over the quark and sprinkle hazelnut pieces over it. Then place the banana in one piece in the wrap and form the whole thing into a roll. If there is still a piece of wrap “without banana” sticking out at the back, cut it off and use it for something else.

Tipp:Of course, all sorts of other fruits go well with the sweet wraps. If you like, you can, for example, cut the banana into small pieces and combine it with other fruits such as tangerines, peaches or blueberries.

Wrap hack: This is how rolling works very easily

There are many different ways to fold a wrap. Until recently, I've always had a hard time getting it even remotely reasonable. Now, however, I have discovered a method that even works for me. And of course I don't want to withhold that from you.

Important tip: Before you put a wrap on top, you should definitely warm it up!This is best done in the microwave or oven. But it should really only be heated briefly so that the dough is nice and soft and pliable. This makes wrap rolling much easier!

1.Once the tortilla is soft, it's time to fold it. Place the filling in the middle of the wrap, forming a kind of wide stripe. The filling can be placed directly on the edge of the tortilla on one side; on the opposite side you should leave about 4-5 cm of space to the edge.

2.Now fold the wrap towards the middle where you left the space so that the filling can no longer fall out at the bottom later.

3.Then fold first one side and then the other side towards the middle, using a slight rolling motion so that your wrap is round at the end. You can apply a little pressure to ensure that nothing falls out.

4.Now you have two options: Either you hold the wrap in place with your hands while you eat or you use an aid. For example, you can wrap the wrap with a small ribbon. This is not only practical, but also looks super pretty.

If you want to make sure that the wrap is really tight at the bottom, you can also wrap it with a small piece of bread paper beforehand. Your wrap will be an eye-catcher if you use pretty wax paper (available here on Amazon).*
