Japan: sweeten the day with chocolate

In Japan, women take the first step: On February 14, the male admirers are delighted with chocolate. However, they have to retaliate almost a month later - at the so -called "White Day", where the women get white chocolate from their loved ones. Sweet equality!

Italy: Eternal love with metaphorical gestures

The Italians are happy to say that they are particularly romantic and passionate. Apparently also on Valentine's Day. On this day, the lovers show each other how close they are by attaching a lock together to a bridge railing. The key is then thrown away - so love should last forever.

In Brazil, the day of lovers will be celebrated on June 12th under the name "Dia dos Namorados". Traditionally, the streets are colorfully decorated and festive parades move through the alleys. With carnival choreographies and festive music there is dancing what it takes.

Denmark: Great puzzle fun

The Danes, on the other hand, make Valentine's Day a real adventure: poems, sayings, but also puzzles are sent to the swarm. Then the recipients must guess who the secret admirer is. Real hits are of course spoiled with a reward.

In Wales, the couples in love supply with so -called "Love Spoons" - an old tradition that has been kept in many places to this day. These are handmade works of art in the form of wooden spoons that are complex. Traditionally, however, the day is celebrated on January 25th - with memory of St. Dwynwen, the patron saint of love.

USA: A little love for everyone

Love is very important in the USA: Here you not only give your partner, but also friends, family and relatives. Even the four-legged friends are not neglected: Dogs and cats also get a little attention on the day of love: from vineyards to the "bone-losing" everything is included.
