Declutter without frustration: Almost everyone makes these mistakes – not you anymore!
Decluttering without a plan? These 3 mistakes will sabotage your closet and ruin your organization in the long term.
Do you know someone whose wardrobe isn't bursting at the seams? Not me! Over time, a lot of dead bodies accumulate. Regular mucking out activities (preferably at every change of season) are the salvation.
From tricks on how to best stack clothes to sorting by color - when it comes to decluttering, there are plenty of hacks that will keep things tidy in the long term. But are there actually mistakes when storing clothes?
What should you definitely not store in your closet and what should you avoid when decluttering? We'll tell you that here.
Trap #1: Keep other things there
Have you ever wondered why your closet is so full? Maybe it's because you don't just store clothes there, but also other textiles such as bed linen or towels. No wonder, after all, the wardrobe is usually the piece of furniture with the most storage space.
The solution: If you have extra space in your home, you don't have to use the wardrobe. For example, you can easily store bed linen in a drawer under the bed. Towels are best placed where you need them - i.e. in the bathroom. There is space for jackets and shoes in a separate wardrobe. Small items such as underwear, socks, accessories and jewelry can be stored in a chest of drawers.

Trap #2: Forgot moth protection
The closet is tidy again and you're done? Stop, stop! Please don’t forget to replace your moth repellent. Most products lose their effectiveness after about six months. This is particularly useful if you have a lot of wool sweaters in your closet or high-quality silk fabrics.
Moths love to feed on keratin, which is found in almost all materials of animal origin, such as down or leather. To protect yourself from holes in your textiles, you should not forget to use the appropriate moth repellent when tidying up. Your clothes will thank you!
Tip: A particularly long-lasting and sustainable moth repellent is cedar wood (here on Amazon*).

Trap #3: Not having a system when cleaning out
Anyone who has ever rearranged their closet knows that it can't be done casually. It's better to take enough time and approach the matter with a small strategy. It is very helpful to think beforehand about how best to distribute the available space. Get enough supplies in advance to keep your closet more organized.
You can hang several hangers together using connecting hooks (is here*). Also a must-have when tidying up your closet: storage boxes. These provide more space because thanks to them you can store a lot more in shelves and drawers (shop here*). All that's missing is your favorite playlist and nothing stands in the way of a well-organized wardrobe.
