Unfortunately, classic pasta dishes are often taboo for everyone who feeds low carb. The good news? With the right alternatives, nobody has to do without this feel -good meal.

In terms of consistency, they take some getting used to at first. But combined with a spicy Bolognese sauce and a golden cheese crust, it becomes a real highlight.

Recipe: low carb bolognese casserole

If the consistency of konjak noodles really doesn't appeal to you, you can also use zucchini noodles (At Amazon there is the right spiral cutter*) or try spaghetti pumpkin. Both variants are light, fresh and perfect for low carb.

Ingredients for 4 portions:

  • 500 g minced meat
  • 400 g of full tomatoes
  • 200 g Konjak noodles
  • 1 El Cream Oder Schmand
  • 100 g grated cheese (e.g. Mozzarella or Gouda)
  • 1 onion
  • 2 clove of garlic
  • 1 the butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 TL Oregano
  • 1 TL basil (fresh or dried)
  • 1 TL paprika powder, noble sweet
  • 1/4 TL Pfeffer

Preparation:

1. Peel the onion and the garlic and chop finely. Drain the konjak noodles, rinse thoroughly with cold water and set aside. If you use Zoodles or Spaghetti-Kürbis, prepare them accordingly.

2. Melt the butter in a large pan and fry the onion as well as garlic over medium heat until glassy. Add the minced meat and fry for about 6–7 minutes until it is through.

3. Add the chopped tomatoes, salt, pepper, oregano, basil and paprika powder to the meat. Simmer for 5–7 minutes over medium heat until the sauce is slightly thickened. Then stir in the crème fraîche or sour cream and season with salt and pepper.

4. Mix the prepared noodles under the sauce and fill everything into a baking dish. Spread the grated cheese generously over it.

5. Bake in the preheated oven at 200 ° C (top/bottom heat) for about 15–20 minutes until the cheese melted and slightly golden brown. Sprinkle and enjoy fresh from the oven with some chopped basil and enjoy.
