More than 6 cups of coffee per day increase the risk of heart attack?

Coffee is one of the most popular drinks among Germans. On average, everyone drinks 3 to 4 cups daily. A cup wakes you up in the morning, another cup banishes a food coma in the afternoon, a third cup allows us to enjoy cake with friends and another cup increases our concentration at work. However, increased coffee consumption has its consequences: sweating, shaking hands and nervousness are some of them. The suspected connection between coffee and cardiovascular disease may prove to be much more serious and potentially harmful to health. Researchers at the University of South Australia examined the question. As part of a study, the patient files of more than 340,000 people were examined. Based on the data, scientists came to the following conclusions:

1. They found no connection between coffee consumption of 1 to 2 cups per day and cardiovascular disease.

2. The risk of heart attack and other cardiovascular diseases increased by 22% when consuming six or more cups daily.

3. Even in people who only drank decaffeinateddrink coffee, the risk of a heart attack is 7% higher than those who only drink up to 2 cups a day.

4. People who don't drink coffee have an 11% increase in the risk of a heart attack compared to those who drink two cups a day.

It can be summarized: According to the study, consuming 1 to 2 cups daily is good for your health. Two to four cups a day are safe and have neither a negative nor a positive effect on your health. However, six or more cups per day can increase the risk of a heart attack.
