When two or even three children share a room, things can quickly get tight. Parents who have to set up a sibling's room face a major challenge. On the one hand, there should be enough storage space for toys, books and sports equipment, and on the other hand, the room should offer free space to run around and a place to retreat in the sleeping area. A new bunk bed promises to meet all of the children's needs. The “Altezza” model offers numerous design options and can virtually “grow” with the children. Thanks to the functional space solution, the little ones can learn to be considerate and make compromises. These important social skills are practiced playfully in a familiar environment, namely within your own four walls.
Set up a sibling's room: A multifunctional bunk bed
“Altezza” is amultifunctional bunk bed, which was designed and manufactured according to Montessori furnishing principles. It consists of a solid wood frame that can be converted depending on your needs. Up to three children can sleep in the loft bed. There are also three play mattresses and it is possible to integrate a study area with a desk.
The Belgian manufacturer Mathy by Bols has managed to design a functional piece of furniture that can be adapted to the space and the needs of the children. The cube-shaped construction is 267 cm long, 267 cm wide and 196 cm high. The second floor is accessible via four ladders and is equipped with fall protection. The first floor is floor-to-ceiling and also accessible from all sides. The bunk bed is made of pine wood and can be delivered untreated or painted upon request.
A total of three orange play mattresses can be attached to the bed frame. This means that all siblings have fun every day: they can climb, play in pairs or threes or read books together.
Every child needs a place to retreat to in the siblings' room. The Altezza loft bed offers three comfortable sleeping zones: two can be arranged above and one below. For this purpose, three slatted frames are rolled out over the play mattresses. This means the play area can quickly be transformed into a sleeping area. Super practical, especially when friends come to visit.
What you need to pay attention to when designing a loft bed
Especially in small rooms where the loft bed plays the main role, parents should pay special attention to a clear visual separation of the sleeping and play areas. While the play area can be colorfully and generously decorated with fabric garlands, toys and pictures, the sleeping area is best kept simple in pastel colors. A loft bed made of untreated wood can be decorated as desired and can be partially or completely painted in color.
The bunk bed in the teenager's room
The bunk bed is a faithful companion on every adventure, but can continue to be used comfortably even into the teenage years. The play area is then converted into a learning area. The young people can sit down comfortably and study together or listen to music. The support surface no longer offers storage space for your favorite toys, but instead displays sports equipment and trophies. And if the siblings later move into their own rooms, the bed can provide additional sleeping space for guests.
