Whether as a fun decoration in the children's room or for a specific occasion such as a party, garlands, just like fairy lights, are always a good idea. And you can create some cool variants from this material. You could also just tie masking tape vertically from a base (branch, balloon garland, etc.). Do you just feel likeMake carnival decorationswith children? Below are two cool ideas:

Make a witch's staircase with crepe paper and children

Maybe you remember the so-called witch's staircase from your childhood, but don't know exactly how it's done. All you need is masking tape in any color – 2 per garland – and a glue stick. In the instructions we work with red and yellow as an example:

Design: Deavita/Canva
  • Place the red ribbon horizontally in front of you.
  • Place the yellow masking tape over it: end to end, creating an L shape.
  • Take the other end of the red strip and fold it over the yellow one.
  • Now take the other end of the yellow crepe strip and fold it over the red one.
  • Then repeat again with red and so on until the witch's stairs are finished.
  • In the last step, when you have finished folding for the last time and only have one tab left, stick it in place with a glue stick.

Cool crepe spirals with fringes

A spiral like this is no less easy to make. If you would like to make a spiral-shaped garland out of crepe paper, you only need crepe paper and scissors and proceed as follows:

  • Cut a piece of any width from the paper roll.
  • Roll the stripnot on.
  • Cut the two open sides several times, leaving the area in the middle untouched.
  • Leave about half a centimeter between each incision.
  • Now you can unroll the paper and look at your finished garland.
  • Hang it up and gently twist it to make it spiral.

Make comets with crepe paper and children

Comets like the first picture in this article are very simple and therefore ideal for smaller children. You can of course design them in different colors. You need:

  • Masking tape (or paper that you cut into strips yourself)
  • Aluminum foil

How to make shooting stars with crepe paper and children:

  • Cut the ribbons to the desired length.
  • Put them together.
  • Prepare a larger piece of aluminum foil and place it in front of you.
  • Place the ribbons on top so that the ends are approximately in the middle of the foil.
  • Form an aluminum ball, making sure to enclose the paper tape well.
  • Cut the ends of the ribbons hanging out at an angle (you can also come up with other patterns, such as zigzags or waves).

The finished comets are perfect for playing because they are easy to throw. The tail will flutter nicely in the air.

This idea is good if you want to use up leftovers. You can make scraps of paper into...create cool pictures, as the color dissolves quickly in water and looks like watercolors.

  • Take a simple piece of paper or even a printed picture. For example, for Easter you can use coloring pages of Easter eggs, for Valentine's Day a heart, for spring a flower and so on. But other motifs are also suitable.
  • Distribute scraps of paper on the area you want to design.
  • Prepare a cup of water and a brush.
  • Use the brush to pick up water and dab it onto the paper until the paint begins to run.
  • You can also use a spray bottle of water instead.
  • Once the image has been colored as desired, remove the paper again.

Making butterflies with crepe paper and children

Those:@whitesugardesigns/Instagram

The first butterflies appear in spring and until then you can bring a few into your own four walls! How do you do that?

  • Crepe paper in any color (you can also use masking tape for such small ones)
  • Wire (you could also use pipe cleaners)
  • Scissors
  • possibly double-sided tape or glue stick

Each butterfly can consist of multiple colors to make it more interesting. Proceed as follows:

  • Cut a strip of paper. If you want to make a two-color butterfly, glue two shorter pieces together.
  • Fold the paper from the narrower end to the wider one like an accordion (like making a fan).
  • Tie wire in the middle. Pull it together tightly to hold the paper together.
  • You can roll the two ends of the wire outwards to make the antennae look even cuter.
  • Gently pull the paper apart and shape it.

Quick and easy, even with small children: aValentine's heart as a giftfor mom, dad or grandma.

  • Cut a heart out of pink or red paper. To do this, fold it, draw half a heart on the fold and cut it out. You can also use oursPrint templatesand use.
  • Tear or cut pieces out of the crepe paper, crumple them into balls and spread them over the heart with glue.

Other variant:

  • You can also cut out the heart and turn it into a flower. In this case, use fewer paper balls, otherwise it will be too heavy.
  • Glue a green pipe cleaner to the back of the heart tip.
  • Cut out two leaves (in the same way as the heart), place them around the pipe cleaner and glue them to the insides.
