The weather has temporarily brought winter back to us, but we still can't give up our spring mood. And since spring is coming back soon, we can pass the time until then with suitable crafts. Let's make flowers, butterflies etc. with pipe cleaners in spring!
It doesn't matter whether it's made exclusively from pipe cleaners (chenille wire, as it's also called) or with some other aids like beads. This fluffy craft material creates pretty things that you can also use for playing. What can you make with pipe cleaners in spring?
Flag made of felt and flowers for the wall
This beautiful wall decoration really puts you in a good mood, don't you think? It is made from just 2 materials and is also ideal for children. You can cut out the background for small children so that they can then make and attach the flowers themselves.
- Felt in any color
- Pipe cleaners in any color
- (Hot) glue
- optional wooden stick
How to make the flag with flowers from pipe cleaners:
- Cut any shape out of the felt.
- If you want to add a hanging rod, cut out two more strips.
- Glue the ends of the strips together and the side with the glue to the large piece of felt. You can thread the rod through there later.
- Cut pipe cleaners into equal-sized pieces.
- To make flowers, bend each piece like a teardrop and glue the ends together.
- Place the tips of the petals together to create a flower shape. Secure the tips with glue, but not too much so that it can be covered later.
- Create so many flowers that the felt is almost completely covered. Make some green leaves for the spaces.
- Cut circles out of felt and glue them where the petals touch. Make sure that circles are large enough to cover the unsightly areas well.
Make a bouquet of flowers with pipe cleaners in spring
You can use 3D flowers to create small bouquets that...Great as a giftare. How to make them with pipe cleaners in spring:
- Pipe cleaners (green and other typical flower colors)
- Pin for bending the wire
- Pearls
- optionally tissue paper for a bouquet of flowers to give as a gift
How to make the bouquet:
- For the flower, wrap the pipe cleaner around a pencil to create a spiral.
- Take the spiral off the pin, make another one and insert them together. This makes the flowers more lush.
- Insert a green chenille wire through it, bend the end over and twist it with the end sticking out. The flower spirals are also bent. Cut off the short, protruding end.
- Shape the loops of the flowers a little and shorten the stem to the desired length.
- Make the leaves from another green pipe cleaner. Bend three sheets of wire at the same time, preferably in different sizes.
- Put a drop of glue where the leaves touch and stick the stem there.
- Finally, decorate the center of the flower with a pearl. The first flower is ready.
- You can collect the flowers into a bouquet and wrap them with tissue paper.
Make a spring picture with pipe cleaners in spring
You can also use the spirals for such spring pictures, because they givegreat hyacinth flowershere. Simply have the children draw stems and/or leaves on a piece of paper first. Once the paint has dried, you can make the flowers using pipe cleaners. Not only purple is suitable, as hyacinths are also available in white and pink. Feel free to combine them in one picture.

- Pipe cleaners in any color
- Clothespins
- Pearls
- Googly eyes
- Acrylic paints and brushes
- Glue
For the butterfly:
- Paint the clothespin the color you want.
- Cut two pipe cleaners in half and string beads on them.
- Make teardrop shapes out of it.
- Glue them to the dried clothespin like wings.
- Form small antennae and decorate the tips with a bead.
- Glue the antennae and the wiggly eyes in place.
Crafting with pipe cleaners – instructions for the dragonfly:
- Take a pipe cleaner and spirally roll one of the two ends to create a head.
- String a bead.
- Below this bead are the wings, which you first shape and then glue to the body.
- Finish with beads for the rest of the body. You can leave the tip free. If necessary, secure the beads additionally with glue.
