Are you already feeling spring fever? The first warm rays of sunshine have probably made you impatient and you would like to conjure up spring immediately. Unfortunately, this isn't possible, but you can at least create a spring atmosphere in your four walls. How do tulip bulbs sound in a glass?
You are probably already familiar with the trend of using spring flowers indoors to beautify your home. Maybe you have even bought and set up beautifully planted flower bowls yourself for this purpose. But in the glass the whole thing looks even more elegant and can also be arranged yourself.
Choose the right varieties
If you have bought your tulips already arranged in a glass, you can assume that they are a suitable tulip variety. However, if you are gathering your materials for the DIY arrangement yourself, it is important to pay attention to this. Otherwise, the flower is unlikely to produce blooms.
You can choose between simple tulip flowers and the particularly effective double ones:
- For a white flower, the following are suitable: Belle Lisette (simple), Bride of Harlem (simple and with red accents)
- You can get red tulips with: Duc van Tol (single), Tournesol (double)
- It gets sunny yellow with: Yellow Emperor (simple), Sweetheard (filled)
- For pink flowers choose: Murillo (double)
- Blooms in elegant dark purple: Turban (double)
In principle, the chances are best with early-flowering varieties. Late bloomers are more difficult to cultivate in a glass.
Choose the right vessel
What is best depends primarily on whether you want to display or plant the bulbs without soil.
For the first variant, i.e. tulips with bulbs in a vase, you must definitely choose a vessel that is suitable for this purpose. The correct shape prevents rot, as this would prevent flowering. The onion must not be in contact with the water. For this reason, the glass vases are specially shaped and are reminiscent of hourglasses. The middle area is therefore narrower, the top and bottom are bulbous - at the bottom for filling with water and at the top for holding the flower bulb.
If you plant the tulip bulbs in soil in a glass, the container doesn't matter as long as you think about a drainage layer.
Arrange tulip bulbs attractively in a glass – a few ideas
The arrangement in the glass without soil is therefore clear. But what if you want to combine several tulip bulbs in a glass and also use soil and other natural materials?
Creating kokedama with tulips
The tulips look really attractive in a moss ball and can be put together in groups. How does it work??
A notice:On the picture isan amaryllis indeedshown, but you can also do this with other flower bulbs.
- Tulip bulbs: It's best to take a pot with several bulbs
- Moos
- Blumendraht
- tall glass container
- possibly filling material such as earth or gravel
How to make the kokedama for the table decoration with tulips in a glass:
- Remove the group of tulips from the pot. Try not to separate the individual onions from each other but to continue working straight away.
- Wrap moss around the bulb group and tie floral wire around it to hold everything in place.
- Place your flowers in the glass and fill with soil if necessary. You can also use soil to raise the kokedama slightly if the jar proves to be too high. Without soil, the whole thing will look particularly attractive, namely if the roots have snaked their way through the open spaces.
Plant tulip bulbs in a glass
You can also just add soil to the glass container and stick the bulb inside. Let the majority of them look out of the ground, as this is particularly effective.
You can then also use the surfacecover with moss, If you want. This not only looks pretty, but also acts like a layer of mulch so that the soil doesn't dry out as quickly. Any decorations can be placed on the moss: pine cones, small beads or Easter eggs for Easter. Feel free to change them out over time. Or how about a string of lights?
Such a decoration also looks very pretty when different flower bulbs decorate the glass. By this we don't just mean tulips with different flower colors, but flowers like daffodils and hyacinths. Then the arrangement really radiates spring. Instead of soil, decorative gravel is also suitable, through which the roots can grow down to the water.

An original gift idea
Tulip bulbs in a glass are also a wonderful gift idea, no matterwhether at Easter, for a birthday in spring or even without a special occasion. It's enough to simply tie a pretty ribbon with a bow around the glass. The flower arrangement is also easy to care for and should be able to be kept alive by everyone.
The bulbs can be stored for the new season and can then be planted in the garden or even in a balcony box.
If you want to give flower bulbs as a gift, you can also use containers with a special shape (of course also if you want tulips for yourselfGlass as decorationplant). Nowadays, decoration shops and furniture stores have a wide variety of shapes and colored glasses that you can use.
