Make your own bird seed cookies
Like usexplained in this article, not all birds eat the same food. But fat, nuts and seeds stand up best to snow and frost.
About thisMaking bird seed cookies, you need:
- Bread slices
- cookie cutters
- Yarn
- Scissors
- Fett
- The safflower seed
- Maizegrieß
- Peanut butter
- Microwavable plastic container
1st step:To prepare the food mix, in a microwave-safe container, combine 2 cups shortening, 2 cups birdseed, 1 cup corn grits, and ½ cup peanut butter. Heat the mixture in the microwave until the fat is melted, about 30 seconds. Stir to combine.
2nd step:Use cookie cutters to cut out “cookies” from slices of bread.
3rd step:Poke a small hole through the center of each bread cutout and thread a piece of twine through it. Tie the ends of the string into a loop.
4th step:Dip one side of the bread into the melted fat, then press it into safflower seeds. Place the bread cutout on a baking sheet and wait until the fat has hardened.
5th step:Brush the other side of the bread cutout with melted fat. Sprinkle seeds on top and press firmly. Complete!
Christmas tree decoration bird food in a waffle cup
These mini ice cream cones look super cute! When buying, just make sure that the waffle cups are not chocolate-coated on the inside.
You need:
- Bird food mix
- Maizegrieß
- Fett
- Peanut butter
- Mini waffle cups
- Ice cream scoop
- cranberries
- Bindfad
- Scissors
- Microwave-safe mixing bowl
- wooden spoon
1st step:First prepare the bird seed and fat mixture. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups shortening, 2 cups birdseed, 1 cup corn grits and ½ cup peanut butter. Heat the mixture in the microwave until the fat is melted and the peanut butter is soft, about 30 seconds.
2nd step:Use the ice cream scoop to make balls of the bird seed mixture and place them in the waffle cups. Do not put excessive pressure on the cup to avoid breaking it. Place a dollop of soft fat on each and press in a cranberry.
3rd step:Then tie twine around each cup for hanging.
Your little tree decorated with bird seed is ready!
