If your daughter has decided to dress up as a fairy for Halloween or Carnival, you don't have to buy a special costume. With a cute dress from your wardrobe and matching magical accessories you can create the perfect costume. To help you, we have 6 instructions for you with which you can make fairy wings quickly and easily.
Choose a fabric for the accessory that has matching motifs. Romantic flowers and colors, for example, are perfect. You can always combine the finished accessories with a cute vintage dress or simply sew one yourself.
You will need fabric, wire, needle and thread, pliers and scissors. If you can't or don't want to sew, you can also use glue. However, it is not certain how long the adhesive will last. In this case, it is best to use textile glue.
Bend the pieces of wire into the desired shape. Then spread out the fabric and lay themagical wingson the back of the fabric. You can now shape the wire again if you are not satisfied. Then draw the outline of the wire onto the fabric.
The fabric is then roughly cut out along the wire or using the traced outline. This should create an edge that can be easily folded over later. So don't skimp on the fabric. You can also prepare some pins to help with the next step.
You can use the pins to hold the fabric in place after folding it over so that it doesn't slip while sewing. This is also the moment when you can use the glue. Otherwise, take a needle and thread and start sewing the wire into the fabric. This is easier than you think and can be done even by beginners.
Then connect both parts with another piece of wire. You can then possibly attach ribbons to this wire with which you can tie the wings to the shoulders. You can also come up with a variant in which the pieces are attached directly to the back of the dress. And that's it, you're done.
The next design featured a pretty lace ribbon. It can also be an interesting wall decoration for the children's room after Halloween or after carnival. You can consider this when choosing the fabric. You can also choose it together with your daughter.
You don't need a stencil for this craft idea. However, it is also sufficient if you draw the desired shape by hand and use this as a template. Your daughter can help with this again. How exactly you will find out in the following instructions.
Use fabrics in different shades of one color or colorful ones, whichever you like better. Distribute pieces of fabric on your stencil. Once you have spaced them out to suit your taste, place a large piece of tulle over the pieces and use pins to keep everything in shape and prevent it from slipping.
The final step is to add the so-called veins. This element is formed from the seams and at the same time serves to attach the pieces of fabric to each other. At this step, the template can again be helpful to see where the veins run. Then repeat the whole thing with the lower part. Tie both wing parts together with a ribbon, which can also be used for “dressing”.
All you need is a large piece of cardboard, a pencil and white acrylic paint. Draw the shape and cut it out. Then use the white paint to draw pretty patterns. You can use the patterns of butterfly wings as a template.
You will need scrapbooking paper, a hot glue gun, felt, ribbon and scissors. First, draw the shape. To do this, fold it in half and draw a wing. This will ensure that both details are the same size. Open the paper again and you're almost done. Then cut both pieces apart.
Then glue the felt onto the back of the details using hot glue. This should consist of a whole piece. Then stick the tape on this back. To do this, select the middle of each band. Once you've tied everything down, you can trim off the excess. The project is now finished.
You can also make these lovely butterfly wings out of tulle. Glue either wire or curved cables onto a round piece of felt or construction paper. You can then decorate the centerpiece with an artificial flower. Also tie two straps for the arms. Then start decorating the cables with strips of tulle by knotting them onto them.
For the next craft instructions you don't need a lot of materials at all. Firstly, you should get wire and transparent wrapping paper. You can optionally decorate the details with glitter at the end or come up with other design ideas. Adhesive or insulating tape are also necessary materials.
First form the individual parts out of wire as shown. Then wrap the ends of the wire with electrical tape so that there is no risk of injury at the pointed ends. Then use insulating tape again to attach the two lower and the two upper elements to each other.
You will need two pieces of foil, each slightly larger than the wire form. Apply hot glue along the wire frame and then place it on the foil, which should be as tight as possible. Repeat this with the three other parts as well. Connect the upper and lower wing parts together.
Finally, wrap the middle piece with the insulating tape with a pretty ribbon. You can also incorporate the straps or elastic for the arms into this. As already mentioned, you can now decorate the whole thing with glitter. The rest of the costume can consist of a bodysuit and a tulle skirt.
If the accessories are intended for Halloween and you want it to be really autumnal, you can also use leaves to decorate. Cut out the details from cardboard and then glue the leaves on them. Start from the bottom and work your way up. Leaves can also just be used as an accent here and there when making fairy wings.
