Today it's about lanterns and I'll show you a great idea on how you can easily make a pretty, glowing decoration for fall yourself. A great material is used here - the fallen autumn leaves.

Collect the materials

For this craft project you only need a few things:

  • a glass vessel, for example an old vase or a preserving jar
  • Decoupage glue such as E.g. shiny Mod Podge
  • Malerpinsel
  • beautiful autumn leaves in the right size
  • Tealight – regular or LED

Decorate the glass lantern with leaves

A tip in advance: Press the leaves in a book for a few days so that they stick to the glass more easily.

And this is how it works:

First, wash the glass jar, removing any stickers. In this postwe explain how to properly deal with stubborn labels. The glass must be completely clean and free of grease. After cleaning, allow it to dry completely before continuing.

Place the sheets on the table so they are within easy reach. It's best to use thinner sheets because they stick better to the glass.

Now apply a layer of glue to the glass and then start gluing the leaves to it by applying more glue to each leaf. For larger vessels, you can work in portions.

When you're happy with the design of your fall lantern, let the glue dry once and then apply a second coat.

Allow the lantern to dry completely, preferably 2-3 days. To make them glow, place a tea light on the floor and light it. This is such a beautiful fall decoration for the mantel or console table!

Pumpkins are simply a part of autumn! But it doesn't necessarily have to be a real pumpkin. You can use a variety of materials to make pumpkins, such as socks, sweaters, paper, wool, balloons and even a pumpkinsimple exhaust hose. But when it comes to a jack-o-lantern, you need a material that is clear or perforated and can be filled with lights. And glass is ideal for this.

To have a beautiful oneMaking a pumpkin lantern, it is desirable that the glass has a rounded shape. For example, you can use an old spherical aquarium or buy an inexpensive round glass vase.

You still need that

In addition to a round glass container, you will need the following:

  • Jute twine
  • Hot glue
  • Mod Podge glue (or similar), matte
  • orange acrylic paint
  • Paint brush
  • Moos
  • a wine cork
  • artificial green
  • paper wire
  • battery-operated fairy lights or LED pillar candle

Instructions: Make the glowing glass pumpkin yourself

First you should prepare the glass jar. You can wash it with dish soap or scrub it directly with rubbing alcohol to remove dirt, grease, and other residue. Allow it to dry completely before the next step.

Now mix three parts glue with one part paint in a bowl and use the mixture to paint the inside of the glass. Allow the paint to dry.

Turn the jar upside down and hot glue three pieces of jute twine to the outside of the lantern to create pumpkin sections. It is best to wear finger protection to avoid burning yourself.

Glue the wine cork to the point where the three strings meet. Twist a piece of paper wire to make vines. Decorate around it with moss and artificial greenery. Your jack-o-lantern is ready! Now all that remains is to put the light in and find a suitable place for it.

Simple Halloween lanterns made from old jars

With Halloween around the corner, I can't miss the opportunity to have a cool oneDecoration idea for the festivalto be included in this collection. The Jack O'Lantern lanterns are one of the symbols of the scary festival and you can use this glass version as an alternative to the carved pumpkin for Halloween decorations.

Here are the necessary materials

  • large mason jars with lids
  • orange food coloring, liquid (or liquid glass color)
  • Craft glue
  • Cup and wooden sticks for stirring
  • orange and black pluster color/3D color
  • LED fairy lights

Paint glasses and paint pumpkin faces on lanterns

First clean the glasses so that they are free of grease stains and all dirt. Allow them to dry thoroughly.

In a cup, mix 2 tablespoons of craft glue with a few drops of liquid food coloring. Stir with a wooden stick. The paint must be liquid, add a few drops of water if necessary.

Pour the paint into the jar and close the lid. Rotate the jar until the color is evenly distributed. Then place the glass on the table and let the paint dry for 10 minutes. Turn it over again and let dry again. If the color is too transparent, you can repeat the process again.

When you are happy with the color, remove the lid and pour the rest of the color out of the jar. It is best to let it dry completely (away from the heater) for 1-2 days.

Then decorate the outside of the glasses. Paint the pumpkin sections with the orange plush paint and the scary pumpkin face with the black.

Insert the fairy lights into the jar and close the lid. Alternatively, you can also stick a tea light on the inside of the lid using double-sided adhesive tape.

Now all that remains is to put the cool lanterns in their final place and Halloween can come. Have fun!
