What could be nicer than spending time outdoors and in nature on a warm, sunny day? If you agree with this, you will agree with us when we say that the picnic is a great idea for this purpose. Eating is made easy here. A delicious fruit salad, sandwiches, cakes and whatever else you can think of. But to make the trip really comfortable, you can make some great things that will quickly prove to be very useful. We have put together interesting picnic ideas with instructions for you to imitate. And since there is still a while until the first warm days, you also have enough time to implement them.
Picnic ideas – A table with a sound system
You can make a practical table out of an old suitcase and reuse the piece of jewelry. There is also a built-in sound system so you can listen to your favorite music while picnicking. The suitcase doesn't necessarily have to be retro. You can also use a modern and colorful one. That's entirely up to you and what ideas you have for the perfect picnic ideas.
You will also need four legs of equal length that you make out of wood. A length of 30 cm was chosen for this table. You can then use fishing rods to attach the legs to the suitcase and conveniently fold them out and back in again. Finally, cut out holes on one of the sides of the suitcase. Then attach the speakers to it. Picnic ideas like these guarantee extra fun on your trip.
The practical music table is particularly suitable for a romantic trip for two people. However, there can be space for two more people. If you have planned the trip with more than four people, you can also use the suitcase as a side table and place bowls or drinks there.
Pack the food nicely
You can provide portions for everyone and put everything in a nicely designed bag. If you want to make such original packaging, you will need the following materials:
– brown bread paper bags
– Print templates (at the end of the article)
– Glue
– Wooden forks
– Wooden clothespins
– Food for the picnic
This example is one of the particularly simple picnic ideas. First, glue the forks onto the wooden brackets and let the glue dry thoroughly. In the meantime you can print on the bags. For this purpose, it is best to attach the bread bags securely to a piece of paper. This will prevent the bag from slipping in the printer. You can now take the printed bag with youthe prepared snacks, sandwiches and desserts, then close them with the clamp.
Make your own coasters
Pretty coasters serve wonderfully as decoration and create a more cozy atmosphere. So just make some. The instructions for these picnic ideas can be found below. Of course, you can design each coaster however you want and if you can't sew, just use glue instead of a needle and thread.
Practical picnic ideas: picnic basket made of paper
Have you planned a picnic trip but don't have a suitable picnic basket yet and don't have the time to get one? Then it's best to quickly make one with this example of our picnic ideas. All you need is craft cardboard in any color.
The instructions can also be found at the end of the article. Take the time to make the basket and you are guaranteed to impress everyone. Which colors and patterns you use for this is entirely up to you.
Make bowls out of paper plates
Such bowls can prove to be very practical. What's more, you can even make them on site, so you can save a lot of space when packing the picnic basket. All you need is as many paper plates as you like, scissors, paper clips for temporary help, and washi tape. Cut the paper plate as shown, fold the elements up and secure them with the paper clips. Alternatively, you can ask someone to hold the bowl until you have wrapped the tape around it and secured it in place.
Idea for the salad bowl: sew a hood
Just because you don't have a bowl with a lid doesn't mean you have to miss out on the delicious salad as an appetizer. Instead, you can provide relief with original craft ideas. You can easily make the lid yourself. This requires sewing. You will need a nice fabric, as well as waterproof and tear-resistant nylon fabric and an elastic band. First measure the required fabric diameter by turning the bowl upside down. Measure an additional distance of approximately 7.5 cm from the bowl. Repeat this all around the bowl, then cut out the fabric. Place this circle upside down and in the middle of the nylon fabric and pin it in place with pins.
Sew both fabrics together along the edge. Finally, leave an opening free. Five centimeters is completely sufficient. Then cut off the excess nylon fabric. An additional zigzag seam also prevents the fabric from fraying. Turn the fabric over and iron the edge. Remember that the nylon fabric cannot be ironed.
The protruding fabric at the opening should be ironed inwards. This makes it easier to sew it up later. The fabric wrinkles, which makes sewing more difficult. Now add another seam along the perimeter. The rubber band will fit in there. Leave a gap of approx. 12 mm. Basically it depends on how wide your band is. This can be quickly brought into the correct position with such a threader. Now place the hood on the desired bowl and pull the band tightly together. This is how you determine the necessary length. Make sure the fabric is really tight. After all, you want everything to be well sealed.
Sew the two ends of the elastic band together. You can then cut off any excess and sew the opening closed. As you can see, picnic ideas made from different materials are possible for this example. All that matters is that you like it.
Practical picnic ideas like these make the trip really relaxing and comfortable, don't you think? The nylon fabric on the inside prevents stains from occurring over time.
Bread bag with cutlery pocket
Simple picnic ideas that can be quickly copied are very beneficial. One such is this one, where you can use bread paper bags again. You will also need washi tape with any pattern and stamp. Instead of stamps, you can also add messages and paint pictures yourself.
The bottom of the bag is folded up and then stuck to the other side of the bag with washi tape. This base serves as a pocket, so its upper edge should not be glued down, but should only be decorated with the adhesive tape. Now feel free to add some decorations. Not only stamps are suitable. Pretty picnic ideas can also be implemented with flowers, sequins, ribbons and other random things. Let your imagination run wild.
A picnic blanket with a bag
If you don't have enough space in your picnic basket for all the accessories and food, you can definitely make use of a blanket like this. So if you haven't had enough of our picnic ideas yet, try these instructions. To make the blanket, you will need a sewing machine, any fabric and a zipper. Another option is, for example, to hire a tailor for this purpose.
