Anyone who regularly collects new recipes may be familiar with the chaos that arises from all those pieces of paper. Originally the notes were only supposed to be a temporary solution, but somehow you never find the time to write all the recipes in your own cookbook. Or maybe you have such a recipe book but don't find it particularly attractive? Take one or more afternoons off to make a change. There are many different variants with which you can make your own personal recipe book. We would like to present such ideas and suggestions to you today.
The new cookbook should look attractive at first glance. You can achieve this by making the front page pretty. While you shouldn't change anything in the recipe, you have the opportunity to let your imagination run wild by making the recipe book yourself. Shape the book into an apron or other design, or leave it rectangular.
You can use anything for decoration. Write on the book by hand or stick on lettering. Lace, scrapbooking paper, buttons, various fabrics, rhinestones and whatever else you can think of are perfect. You can also cut out pictures from magazines and use them to create a suitable theme.
You can make a vintage cookbook yourself, for example, by using old newspaper, cutouts and pictures from old cookbooks or lace doilies. You can then protect the front page decorations from moisture and contact with self-adhesive, transparent film so that everything lasts for a long time.
You can give a cookbook as a gift by not only providing it with recipes, but also personalizing it. You can do this with specific motifs, but also with funny photos. The person for whom you are making the recipe book yourself will always have a reason to laugh or smile while preparing the recipes.
The cookbook can be beautifully dressed up with fabric, giving it a unique look. Linen fabric and lace were used for the example above. The fabric also serves to bind the book when it is not in use. Maybe you also have a nice material that you can use to make your own recipe book?
Ribbons, string or, as here, strips of lace can be used to tie it. These are simply attached to the inside of the cookbook and then simply tied into a bow when the book is closed. Remember to leave the band sufficiently long. Ultimately, the recipe book should be even thicker.
This cookbook consists of homemade paper pockets into which the respective recipe is placed. If you make this recipe book yourself, you can use wonderful scrapbooking paper. On the other hand, you can, for example, describe what the recipe is intended for. So if the recipe is for an apricot cake, create an apricot cake on the opposite side using paper, mushroom or other things.
This recipe book is simple but extremely original. And it's quick to create, too, especially if you're using a notebook or notebook that already has a nice cover page. Poke two holes in the book anywhere. Thread the string through there to tie the wooden spoon tightly. You can also design the spoon if you make the recipe book yourself. You can get a stripe by covering it with adhesive tape and painting it.
This variant is also a great idea. Just as a wooden spoon was used above, a small fork, a spoon and a small knife serve as decoration here. As you can see, there are a variety of ideas if you want to make your own personal recipe book. The linen fabric is also a great accent at the top.
You can divide the cookbook into categories. Usually such categories are “salads,” “main courses,” “desserts,” and others. If you still have an address book lying around, you can also use another option. Arrange the recipe names alphabetically. Then the recipe you need will definitely be found quickly.
If you have an old cookbook from which you only prepare a few recipes, you can simply redesign all the other pages and make your own recipe book. Take sticky notes and cards and simply stick them on the unusable pages. Additionally, you can paint pictures or create other decorations around the edges.
You can print the recipes or insert them into the recipe book by hand. Printed pages or cards are also very suitable for folders because they can be stored in a transparent film and are therefore protected from dirt. Another advantage is that you can always expand the recipes if you use a folder.
There are also practical transparent films that are divided into several areas. You can use these to combine recipes and images. This allows you to create an organized cookbook that you can still personalize. This also applies to the folder itself. Decorate the front page as you wish.
You may still have some photo albums lying around that you no longer need for the time being. Since these don't offer much space, it is recommended to use a separate photo album for each category. So use one album for salads, another for main courses and a separate one for desserts. So it is an advantage that you plan the content well in advance.
Recipe cards are also well organized in a wooden box. Such cards are practical because they don't take up much space. A good division into categories is also recommended here so that you can quickly find the recipe you need. You can use the example above as a model or inspiration.
Key rings can prove to be very practical. You can also replace a folder. The individual pages of your cookbook are simply punched on the side and then threaded onto a ring. A stand like this picture above can then be used for hanging. The individual pages are simply folded back using the rings.
You can even make your own recipe book out of wood. Admittedly, it is a more elaborate version, but this way you not only get a cookbook, but also a practical cookbook stand, which also makes a great decoration in the kitchen. The principle is the same as with the hanging version. The pages of the recipe book are held together by rings.
