Variants for 3D birthday card

Such a card is about some kind of three-dimensional objects, figures or a three-dimensional greeting. It might sound impossible at first to make such a work of art yourself. However, there are quite a fewdifferent variants. Some are easier to craft than others. This depends primarily on the number of objects or figures integrated into the map. Even craft beginners can design a simple pop-up card for their birthday. All you need is: a cutting mat, a craft knife, a ruler, craft glue or alternatively double-sided tape, scissors, a pencil, some craft cardboard in any color and motif.

Make a simple pop-up card: instructions

You can make a simple and at the same time very beautiful pop-up birthday card yourself by choosing an uncomplicated motif. You choose this specifically for the person receiving the gift so that it fits his/her personality. You can design the motif either using a motif punch or freehand and several timesmade of colorful craft paperor cut out in any color.

For the card you need two pieces of cardboard of the same size, for example DIN A4. Use one as an outer frame and cut the other so that it is a few centimeters smaller all around than the other sheet. How large you create this frame is up to you.

Since the card will eventually be unfolded, take the two pieces of cardboard and fold them in half once. Then leave the larger sheet aside. You will now design your birthday pop-up card on the smaller one. To do this, you need a precise plan of where which motif will be placed.

Design motifs for the greeting card

You can draw the motifs by hand, paint them or make them out of craft paper. In addition, pretty figures can be cut out of wrapping paper or printed out. Photos and magazines are also ideal. However, the motifs selected must not be too large and must not go beyond the edge of the card. It is also important that they coordinate with each other and ultimately do not look thrown together.

Take the selected motifs in your hand and think about which ones should be in the foreground and which ones you want in the background. Make sure that the motifs do not overlap too much or get in the way. Then fold the card together with the opening facing up. For each motif, draw a 1 to 2 cm wide and 3 to 5 cm long strip from the folded card upwards. Consider how large the subject is and where it will be placed. Use scissors or a craft knife to cut the marked lines. You only need to cut the longitudinal lines and not the cross lines.

Now open the card and push the strips through so that the right angle of the strips faces forward, towards you. Then fold the card back up. It should remain stable on a horizontal surface. Now attach the motifs to the erected strips with glue or double-sided adhesive tape.

Finally, carefully glue the cardboard with the motifs onto the others. Make sure that everything fits exactly and that there are no confusing adhesive residues visible. Now your homemade birthday card is ready. Write a few kind words and put them in a nice envelope.
