Halloween costume vampire: Do I have to buy the false teeth?
If you have the idea for oneSimple Halloween costume made from everyday clothingIf you like it, then dressing up as a vampire would be a really good option. The only thing (but also the most important thing) you probably don't already have on hand is the vampire prosthetic. You can of course buy these ready-made, but there are also some simple ways to make the accessory for your vampire costume yourself. And it's actually easier than you might think.
Make deceptively real vampire teeth yourself from artificial nails
The polymorph material is used in many instructions if you want to make your own vampire prosthesis. This is a plastic that you can melt in warm water and then shape into any shape you want. Today we would like to show you a few ideas on how you can make vampire fangs yourself without a polymorph.
In fact, you can make deceptively real vampire teeth yourself using these four simple things from the drugstore: a pack of self-adhesive artificial fingernails, adhesive cream for artificial teeth, nail scissors or nail clips and a nail file. We'll now show how it works.
But first: Which glue to use for vampire teeth?
The trick that many people don't know is how to properly glue fake teeth. For this purpose, some orthodontic wax would serve you well. This is a harmless fatty substance that protects your gums and the inside of your mouth from foreign objects such as wires and braces. Alternatively, you can also use special adhesive cream that is used to fix dentures. Both are available in most pharmacies.
Make your own vampire teeth: instructions
First, find the nail size that best fits your canines. Use a nail clip and nail file to shape the teeth. File the corners well so as not to hurt your lower lip with your nails. Try on the filed nail to get an idea of how the tooth will look in your mouth. If necessary, continue to file until the artificial nails achieve the desired pointed shape and look like “real” vampire fangs.
Apply a small amount of wax or denture glue to the back of the filed “teeth” and gently press it directly onto your canines. If you use glue, hold the artificial nail for 4-5 minutes to allow the glue to harden.
CAUTION:There is a risk of swallowing with such fake vampire teeth! You should definitely remove your teeth when eating, drinking, sleeping, etc. and rather only use them for photos.
DIY vampire teeth for Halloween from plastic forks
Plastic cutlery is harmful to the environment, everyone knows that. However, if you have some unused plastic forks lying around your home, you can use them to make simple vampire fangs to complement your Halloween costume.
For this DIY you will need four white plastic forks, scissors, a lighter and a small hacksaw or cutter.
First, cut the plastic forks approximately near the raised part (see picture). Then cut off all four tines of the first fork with scissors. This is the first part of your vampire prosthesis. For the second part, cut off three of the tines and leave the left one. For the third part, leave the right tine and cut off the remaining three. Cut the fourth part of the prosthesis like the first.
Now you need to glue these pieces together. You can use a lighter to melt the plastic and then solder it together. The fake denture must be round so that the fangs are comfortable and do not cause discomfort in the mouth. Take two pieces at a time, melt a little on one side and the other and put out the fire when it starts to burn. Connect all the pieces together to complete the vampire fangs.
Make your own straw vampire teeth
Making vampire fangs with a plastic straw is another quick and easy method, and the resulting fangs are easy to remove and replace. To test this DIY method, find a white plastic straw. Ideally, it should match the color of your teeth. Using scissors, cut off a small piece of the straw, about 5 centimeters long. Then fold the cut piece in half and use scissors to cut both sides to create an almond shape that looks like fangs. Maintain the fold when cutting so that you can make two identical and perfectly symmetrical teeth. Finally, cut the straw in half along the fold, splitting it into two independent fangs. Slip them over your canines and give the neighborhood kids goosebumps just by smiling.
