In ancient Greece, girls drew so-calledPeplos an– a long white dress made of light fabric, length to the floor, fastened at the shoulder with a buckle. They wore a flower wreath or tiara on their hair.
The women in ancient Egypt woreKalasiris –a piece of fabric that was also floor length and had only one strap. In Egypt, all types of jewelry - glass beads, gold, tiaras and bracelets were of great importance.
In the 15th century, women decided to wear something unusual - then came onto the sceneKotardi– a V-neck dress with a high waist and long sleeves. The color was chosen by the groom, but most often the wedding dresses were cut in purple, crimson and red.
In the Baroque period, golden color became the most chosen color by girls getting married. The dresses were richly decorated with lace.
The Rococo period saw the arrival of crinolines and dresses reached their peak in splendor and beauty. The length of the train, which all dresses had, determined the status of the bride.
How did the white dress become a trend?
At the end of the 18th century, the attention of wedding guests was again drawn to the Greek model of wedding dress - namely to the white, long dress, with a maximum high waist and very small sleeves made of light material. From this time onwards the majority of brides are dressed in white.
In the 19th century, orange blossoms became fashionableBride's hairand then – the rich adornment, as accessories to the dress.
After World War I, the low waist was invented.
In the 20th century, the fashion for large skirts was initiated by Christian Dior - in the 50s and 60s many girls wore miniskirts for their weddings and in the 80s the embroidery and waves appeared in the cut wedding dress.
