3. The casual bun
You can easily design these DIY wedding hairstyles. It's perfect for "a bride who is more conservative when it comes to hairstyles but wants a little bit of a playful style for her wedding," says Reese.
- To begin, you need to prepare your hair for styling by massaging a volumizing spray into damp hair.
- Blow dry your hair. Then curl your hair using a thin curling iron to give it structure. Do not forget that the curls should be thin and close to each other.
- Use your fingers or a paddle brush to loosen the curls. Then, as shown in the photo, tease the fringe area of the hair to lift it slightly and create volume.
- Brush the hair with your fingers while simultaneously pulling it back. If you want, you can leave part of the hair hanging at the front and then tie it back later.
- Twist the hair back into a loose half-knot. Allow a few strands to fall out as shown in the photo. Secure the resulting bun with hairpins and fix the hairstyle with a strong hairspray.
4. Slicked-out retro curls
You can create these DIY wedding hairstyles if you are a bride with great character. According to Reese, "She can be the type of party girl who wants to give off a wilder vibe with her bridal hairstyle, but at the same time stay elegant, fun and completely appropriate for the occasion."
- Start by massaging a styling mousse into your hair and moisten your hair. To do this, you can use suitable products if you wish.
- Form a deep side part and dry the hair strand by strand with a hairdryer.
- By using a curling iron with a diameter of approx. 5 cm, curl your hair. The curls should run towards the face.
- Loosen the curls slightly with a paddle brush and place the hair to one side. You can fix them by securing them with bobby pins just behind your ear.
- If you want, you can let your hair fall back. Fix the finished hairstyle with a medium-strength hairspray. You can add an accent by adding a flower behind the other ear.
5. A braided hair band
These do-it-yourself wedding hairstyles should be tried by girly women with long hair who are between 20 and 30 years old when they get married. “There's something cute about this look that's particularly suitable for younger brides,” says Reese.
- Before you start styling, use styling mousse and moisten the hair.
- Blow dry your hair and curl it using a curling iron to give it more structure.
- The next step to DIY wedding hairstyles is to tease the front of the hair to lift it up.
- Use your fingers to pull your hair back to create a loose bun. Leave two sections hanging at the back of your head, underneath the bun. You will later braid the hair band out of this. Secure the bun with bobby pins.
- Now braid two braids from the two parts that you didn't add to the bun. Once done, wrap it around your head. Where they end, cleverly connect them together so that the “seam” is as invisible as possible. Secure everything with bobby pins and medium hair lacquer.
6. Half-open styling
These DIY wedding hairstyles can suit women who want to feel like a princess on their big day. “It’s such a classic look,” says Reese. “It reminds me of Kate Middleton on the royal wedding day.”
- Add protection and volume to your hair by massaging suitable products into damp hair at the hairline.
- Blow dry your hair strand by strand using a blow dryer and a large round brush.
- Backcomb the area above the forehead (the bangs area) to lift the hair and comb back with a paddle brush. Tie them together with a hair tie. To hide the elastic, take a strand of hair and wrap it around it.
- Create large curls using a curling iron with a diameter of approx. 5 cm. To do this, start in the middle of the hair.
- Loosen the curls with your fingers and set with a medium-strength hair polish.
7. A Greek style hairstyle
The hairstyle is perfect for outdoor weddings and chic brides. “This style is great for adventurous, unconventional women,” points out Reese.
- Mist your hair with a volumizing spray to prepare it for styling.
- Next, blow dry your hair straight with a round brush.
- Now create a deep side part and start braiding the front part of the hair. This braid should run along your forehead to the back of your head. Secure the end of the braid with bobby pins.
- Add some delicate curls to the hair. Start at the middle of the hair, rather than the hairline, and work your way down.
- Loosen the curls with your fingers and create a low bun. Finish the hairstyle by setting it with a strong hairspray
