Coloring eggs naturally – instructions

The eggs should be at room temperature - remove the hard-boiled eggs from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before dyeing. For the different colors you will need the following ingredients:

  • 250 ml water
  • 1 – 2 teaspoons white vinegar
  • Desired coloring agent (e.g. turmeric or red cabbage, etc.)
  • 1 – 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 – 2 tablespoons brown or regular sugar

Coloring instructions:

  1. Bring the water, salt, sugar and coloring ingredient to a boil, then reduce the heat to simmer for about half an hour.
  2. If you want the eggshell to absorb the color better, be sure to add 1 to 2 teaspoons of white vinegar.
  3. The eggs should be dipped into the solution, which is about room temperature. The longer they lie in the colored water, the stronger the color becomes. You can let the eggs soak in the solution for a whole night (or up to three days).
  4. Then let the Easter eggs dry completely. Finally, the eggs are polished with a cloth after rubbing them with a little vegetable oil.

Coloring Easter eggs with wine

You need 12 fresh, white eggs (room temperature) and dark red wine.

Directions:

  1. Fill a saucepan completely with wine and bring to a boil.
  2. Using a slotted spoon, add the eggs to the wine - soft-boiled eggs take 8 minutes, hard-boiled eggs take 15 minutes. Then turn off the stove.
