You will need these materials
- Colorful construction paper
You need construction paper in different colors. Use yellow construction paper to make the chick and choose white or colorful construction paper for the egg. If you want to make the egg even more individual, you can also use patterned paper or other colors.
- Templates
Print out the templates that you like best. You can easily cut out and use them directly.

Tinker with chicks step by step
With the following simple handicraft guide you can make a colorful Easter egg with a cute, movable chick. The steps show you how you can tinker the chick so that it moves up and down with an ice cream stick as if it were slipping out of its egg.
- First cut out two equally large egg shapes from the construction paper. You can use one of our templates or simply draw an oval shape freehand and then cut it out.
- With one of the two egg shapes, carefully cut into zigzag lines that make the egg look like it has broken up.
- Now it's about tinkering the chick. Draw the shape of a small chick on a piece of yellow construction paper or use our template. Cut out the drawn chick shape with scissors.
- You can decorate the chick even further! Paint two small eyes on the chick with a black pen or glue on the wobble.
- Cut a small beak out of orange paper and glue it onto the chick. If you want, you can add your chick to your wings or feet to make it more realistic.
- Take the upper part of the broken ice cream and carefully position it over the chick. Use adhesive or double -sided adhesive tape to attach it to the chick.
- Take the lower part of the broken ice and position it on the entire egg so that it covers the lower egg shape. Make sure that you release a small gap in the lower part of the broken egg that fits exactly for the ice cream. This gap should be big enough so that the chopstick ranks through, but not so big that it gets too shaky.
- Apply adhesive or double-sided adhesive tape to the edges of the lower egg part, but leave the place for the stick.
- Apply glue to the back of the chick, at the point where you want to attach the ice cream. Press the ice cream firm to the chick and hold it for a few seconds so that the glue sticks well.
- Check whether the chick can be moved well through the slot in the egg and whether the ice cream stole is stable enough to pull the chick up and down.
