Wall cladding made of fir wood in a concrete house

A modern concrete house was designed by Savioz Fabrizzi Architects in 2014. The surrounding landscape of the Swiss mountains served as inspiration for the project, which is why the house is very similar to futuristic rock. Inside, the concrete is combined with wall cladding made of fir wood to add a cozy touch, but at the same time not to change the minimalist character.

Geometric proportions andsloping wallsform the minimalist interior, reduced to the essentials. This unconventional solution creates multiple windows at different angles that let in natural light. On the other hand, they are designed so that there is no need for privacy protection - no window is directly facing the neighboring house or the street.

The furnishings are so reduced and minimalist. The furniture is black, there is no decoration, the flooring is made of exposed screed. The only colored detail is the red kitchen and wall unit integrated into theWall panelingmade of fir wood.

The outdoor area is designed in a minimalist way and consists mainly of quarry stones and small areas of lawn. The house has a panoramic terrace with a view of theBergeand the nearby vineyards.

The futuristic concrete house is located in a region of Switzerland famous for its vineyards and still known as the Swiss wine capital. Seen from a distance, the house should appear more like a rock and not be significantly different from the rest of the landscape.

The house's odd, geometric proportions fully reflect its exceptional hillside location. The wall cladding made of fir wood ensures sustainable insulation and enables a relatively constant room temperature, as efficiency is required in the mountain region.
